RockAuto is almost always lower cost and higher quality then the local auto parts store. But they have been slow shipping lately.

Thanks, used the code and it helped a little with shipping cost. I checked Amazon but it was still cheaper with shipping to get from RockAuto.

Had a similar issue with some brake pads I bought. They were supposed to fit, didn't, and their answer was "Sorry, this isn't our fault so there isn't anything we can do".
Same. Customer service is non-existence

Got a front hub and wheel bearing kit for both sides of an Acura TL for $108 shipped. Local AutoZone wanted $103 for one side. As stated before, 5% off is always available with a quick Google search.

I usually go to RockAuto, look at the selection in "daily driver" (because that this I am, not a Autobahn monster etc - literally put cops at speed traps to sleep). Then compare exact item on Amazon. Sometimes it's cheaper on Amazon (got prime) sometimes it's not - but at least I weed out Chinese junk that will fail after a week.

5% discount is nothing to write home about, imo.

It's not that 5% is a big discount. It's that the 5% is off of what, in many cases, are the lowest prices anywhere on new name brand parts from a reputable seller.

Example:
Standard Motor Products (SMP) Techsmart S20019 Throttle Body for 5.3L GM:

Autozone $259.99
Amazon (3rd Party) $164.35
Rock Auto $76.79
Rock Auto After Discount $72.95 + $10.99 Shipping = $83.94 to your door. Which happens to be less than 1/3 of what your local Autozone will charge you for the identical part, same manufacturer, same part number.

So, the 5% is only part of a bigger pricing picture that is most certainly worth writing home about, thus the +61 deal score as I write this. Do some comparative shopping and you'll see similar savings on other things as well.

In full disclosure, I have this exact throttle body in my daily driver for the last 4+ years and it's been flawless. Which brings me to my next disclosure, which is that the Rock Auto offering carries a 30-day warranty because it's a closeout. But still brand new in the box, same as the other sellers.

Even Honda, Toyota, etc OEM parts are made in China nowadays.

RockAuto is no longer bueno IMHO and I don't use them any more. I am definitely not alone in that sentiment based upon various Reddit and YouTuber opinions as well. The bizzare mix of multiple items and multiple warehouse shipping costs coupled with terrible packaging, old/stale parts, broken and/or missing items has just become too frequent with them. If you do go with them be sure to go over your order with a fine tooth comb to look for defects, damage and/or if it is even the right part. Waiting until you actually start working on the vehicle and are past the return policy is where people get the most frustrated. My last order included radiator/heater hoses that were supposedly name brand but they did not have any tags and were so squishy I returned them for a refund. That order also had a new AC condenser that came with a complimentary dent in the top that had perforated the fine mesh coils along the face. The packaging was absolutely fine so it had to have happened at the warehouse. Just sharing my own experiences so YMMV...
There is a subreddit for rockauto, the quality of shipping and service does seem to have fallen lately. I personally never had a problem with rockauto, but I realize it may not be the perfect place that it once was.

Still better than Amazon, I am certain many sellers on Amazon sell fake items. When buying form Amazon, the product doesn't always come from Amazon fyi, there can be many sellers.

Buying OEM parts from a Honda dealer is expensive and for most parts not worth it.

So rockauto is still the best.

I suggest avoiding Amazon, or at least pay attention who the seller is. I am certain there are sellers who sell fake OEM parts.
