Just an FYI. I seem to recall reading that most faces have to get used to electric shavers. supposedly it takes a couple of weeks to adjust. I think it alluded to it even shaved better after your face adjust. I read this a long time ago so I'd check into if I were you. It never irritated my skin but I still use a 5 blade deal. I just can't get this close with electric but I'm thinking about this one.
It's true. One needs to give one's face time to acclimate to the electric razor.

Also, how your facial hair grows will play a big factor in which electric razor will work best for you.

Some hair works best with these Panasonic razors, but some people will get better results with a Braun. And still others are better suited with a Norelco. And unfortunately the only way to find out which works best for you is trial and error.

Just don't cheap out on the lowest end models. Those usually have enough corners cut to seriously impact the shaving results they give.

No matter what I use, I get irritation
Most electric shavers can be used dry or wet. I wash my face with soap and then apply a thin layer of Cremo shaving cream before using my Philips Norelco rotary electric shaver. I get a closer shave and little to no irritation.

I have the non Titanium version of this, and I did buy the titanium roller/blade later on. There is very little advantage to the titanium version. The regular version has metal rollers, not plastic as someone else mentioned.
I do use this to shave my head only, and have not had any irritation using both the blades.
Everyone's skin is different, so do not judge the razor based on someone's experience. As it is Costco, the return policy is worth trying it out. I have the Arc4 and Arc5 and have tried the Braun 9 series for head shaving. Panasonic for me was better.

How is Arc5 vs. Braun 7 or 8?

Is this a great deal or just an alright deal?
You don't really need the base. From my understanding you have to buy replacement cartridges for it which means more money. Cleaning the shaver regularly with warm soap and water is good enough. Great shaver, although I have to follow up the shave with the Norelco One touch. My hair is super thick
I've tried Norelco shavers in the past which left me with irritation and tried have tried one of the Brauns before which don't contour as well as the Arc 5. If you are wearing of replica replacement blades. You can pic some up off eBay directly from Japan

I been using the Braun Series 9, towards the 2nd year, it doesn't work as well as it did, I feel like the battery life diminishes quicky, also stops in the middle of me shaving my bald head, not sure if you guys had this issue with Panasonic as I may want to switch brands if it does last longer, and the blades too

This. I switch between safety razors and electric and it takes a few days to adjust. One trick is to apply light pressure but more passes as opposed to pressing it hard to get a close shave for the first few days. I would classify my skin with sensitive and the Arc 5 causes way less trouble than Braun or Philips.

This thing feels vintage now. Is there an Arc6 coming out anytime soon?

Vintage, but in this case, old is gold. If you got the benjamins, ARC6 is available on Amazon https://a.co/d/02PgLHmt but it is NOT slickdeal.
