GL.iNet makes good routers. This dual band Wi-Fi 7 router is a good value at this price.

Might have to jump on this. I assume this is a downgrade from the standard 3? What's missing?

Much smaller internal storage and lack of 6GHz band

Why are some routers advertised as Wi-Fi 7 when they don't even support the 6 GHz band?

Pure marketing! The main advantage of WiFi 7 is the support of 320MHz channel but only work with 6GHz band. Well, the new 802.11be standard has some software-side improvements like MLO but I heard Flint 3 routers have firmware bugs with MLO and you have to disable them lol

Are these gonna be banned too? Or y'all think all that banning stuff is going to blow over?

I'm waiting for Flint 4, but it seems the specs are overkill for me. I just need good Wi-Fi 7 with third-party firmware support. I will see; my budget is less than $150.

Looks like it doesn't support vanilla Open-WRT because of the Qualcomm processor

Yes it will be banned, cannot break its own FCC license without making a new model with US license, made in USA with US made parts. I believe the only common router currently in circulation that passes is Tesla/SpaceX Starlink routers.

There are some brands that have received conditional extensions to import current models / modified variants: https://www.fcc.gov/supplychain/c...-approvals

/edit; My reply was focused on "consumer grade" there are more compliant options for Business grade routers
