It's hard to tell right now if the new model is actually an improvement or just a value engineered version; it is quite a bit lighter, but that's not necessarily a good thing.
Previous sales blew through stock in a hurry.

The new one coming out next month is supposedly 10 lbs lighter. For something with such an awkward geometry, 10 lbs is actually quite significant esp if you need to carry it through doorways. I'm pretty sure I'm going to bang things up when I need to transport it. This is the type of saw that ideally, you have a place to set it longterm.
