I've been eyeing this for a while. The wetstones are fine, but they make a mess with the water and they're kind of a pain in the ass. Might just have to get this.

Great sharpeners take your time read the instructions they are very well made and create a near perfect edge when used as instructed. Strong motors and diamond plus ceramic plates that spin finely.
You can also replace the wheels inside. I've had mine 7 years and not needed to yet, and sharpen my knives about every 2 or so weeks. Here was the post 😀
Guess I'm the lone person out on these. Have had one for over 5 years. These remove an unreasonable amount of metal and do not get a very good edge in my experience. Would rather have the Work Sharp sharpener for $90. Or a fixed angle sharpening system than this. Just as fast, better sharpening, no water and less metal removed. Not endorsing the Work Sharp fixed angle, just an example. The work Sharp belt sharpener is pretty universally liked though. I imagine the fixed angle is good to, but no idea on this specific on.
these are fine just be aware of the limitations. It doesn't get maybe the bottom inch on smaller knives, it can't do any short ones (paring, etc), and if your blade has a bolster you can't pull it all the way through.
I have both whetstones and one of these and I use both depending on my laziness and type of knife. I have 2 really nice knives that I prefer to hand sharpen but anything else I don't mind chucking through this in a pinch. Knives are tools meant to be used, not something to be overly precious about, so if this will help you…

I've been using this for years and I've gotten it for family members. This really works well. Just make sure to read the instructions because you don't need to use all the wheels every time.

this is way better that wet(don't need to wet this) and it works on my expensive Damascus knives as I couldn't sharpen them with wet stones
