Anyone else too. I'm happy to help.
If you have ten kids under 18, this deal is probably for you

I've been through the area. Absolutely no reason for me to stop in Carlsbad. Very run of the mill coast city. My whole purpose was to see the coast on the way up from San Diego. Camp Pendleton pretty much blocks access to it for a very long way up.
It also isn't or wasn't a very nice area when I was traveling through it. It is too close to San Diego. The rest stops along side the roads were clogged with very rough looking illegals camping there. And I don't mean a little, pretty much every 5 feet was another tent or squatter. And this was right near this place. But that was a decade ago, before the current administration.
Edit: But "Self-parking is $38 plus tax, per day;" is ridiculous. This is not near any major transportation - and so you will almost certainly be driving to it, is not a major attraction that justifies the price, and adds substantially to the deal. This is the resort fee re-added on somewhere else.
If you wanted to go there already, maybe a good deal for you. But I can think of a hundred places at least I'd rather see in California.
