Not sure what a 115w TGP is but a mobile RTX 5070 has a TDP of 50w. It's not a bad deal but you don't have to spend too much more for a better CPU or CPU and GPU if you look hard enough.

50W ? Check the official product specification from Nvidia. The tech Powerup information is incomplete. 5070 mobile can have its TGp set by Laptop vendors from 50W to 100W and ectra 15W you see is from the dynamic boost.

There's no mention of 100w or 115w being used by this particular laptop's 5070 that I could find, where was that found? Despite the answer my previous comments still stands. You can find similar laptops with a better cpu for a little more

Then you are probably not looking that hard. There are plenty of reviews available, both written and in YouTube confirming that. Even their RTX 5060 models come with 100-115W TGP. You can start here: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J80WhZTrIFY
And no, your previous comment does not stand. You were not even aware of the fact that all the RTX Mobile GPUs since 3000 series, have a configurable TGP range, a lowest value to a highest and you were literally claiming the lowest value for RTX 5070 as the fixed TGP for the series.

Not only that, but I have no idea why this dude is talking down on a Ryzen AI 9 365. That is a 28 watt CPU that gets 30k/3.8k in multi/single core CPUBenchmark.net numbers. Like that is great actually especially as laptops have limited ability to expel heat, so most of the "faster" things on the market use 2-2.5x the wattage to get slightly higher numbers and in return give terrible battery life and do not at all improve the gaming experience on the laptop.
Not to be mean, but the dude doesn't know what he is talking about hardware wise or cost wise.

100/115 is pretty much standard for a 5070. If you didn't know that, I'm honestly not sure why anyone should trust your opinion on "better CPUs for a little more" without links to said deals or even a reference to said CPUs. This is a fantastic platform all around and a great price in this economy for a 5070.

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 often dips to $1500, has a Intel Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070 Ti. Most recent sale I saw was at $1600 at Costco, but since has gone back up to 1700 (currently 1750 from Amazon). I'm sure it'll dip down again in the near future since it seems to be often spotted on sale. If you're worried about wattage and battery life don't buy a gaming laptop.
Ha! This is the same laptop HP sold for around $1100 last Black Friday due to a (triple?) coupon stacking error on their part.
Don't think so. I think the one you are refeerring had a Ryzen 9 8940HX 16C/32T Zen4 CPU (More powerful but power hungry) and RTX 5060 for around $1100.

This one. When you clicked the URL, it automatically applied a coupon that wasnt supposed to be getting applied to the BF sale price. And then you could add the additional $50 off coupon. $1150 looks to be the price.

Yeah, the memory hike is taking it's toll, but you werent supposed to be getting $950 off either. lol I think it was supposed to be around this price with the $50 off. But the 5070 was still newish too.

Right there is a reason for that unfortunately. Acer gaming laptops were never Legion or ASUS quality, but this generation is bad. Like MSI level bad, maybe worse. HP on the other hand is on par with ASUS this gen, when they were untouchable in prior generations. Also the last time it was 1500 or less new was 4 months ago before OEM prices had caught up to the ram apocalypse prices. Systems are dramatically higher now than in Feb unfortunately. Right now it is 1600 on Amazon, and as long as you want to roll the dice on getting a dud and are willing to trade 7+ hours of battery life for under 2 it's a great buy over this unit.
As for your last bit "If you care about anything other than gaming exclusively don't buy a gaming laptop". Yeah okay, I'll just buy a gaming laptop and a regular laptop, OR and hear me out, I can get a 5070 ti with a Ryzen 365 that will NOT hurt the gaming performance at all (which is apparently the only thing that matters for a gaming laptop) and will give the GPU more heat headroom for less throttling AND get 7+ hours of battery life. It's 2026, you don't have to choose when it comes to CPU anymore as a low 28w CPU isn't a bottleneck for anything under a 5080 and probably isn't one for a 5080. If you only care about gaming that Ultra 9 isn't improving your FPS in most games over a Ryzen 9 365.

Will this run minecraft ?
But seriously this looks like a decent setup for a college student that may do engineering or computer science for a decent price.

Ohh...yes I posted that too. I guess the Ram price hike is taking a toll.
