I got this used with 99hrs locally for about 1000 less than this, including a 2 yr warranty that transferred, same number and size of batteries but no wall charger. Love it, easy to maintain and cuts fast and clean. I had a notification on for this and would have jumped so fast had I not gotten lucky with the local purchase. I have only seen 1 error thrown and it was because I got it stuck on rocks. If you get this, make sure you are aware of its lack of slope mowing capabilities.
This Greenworks 60V 42 inch zero turn stands out as a quiet, low maintenance electric mower that cuts fast and clean, with enough battery capacity to handle large yards. The included six batteries and wall charger plug directly into the mower, and charging is described as convenient and fairly quick. Real world reports put mowing range around 1.5 to 2.5 acres, with tall grass and rough, rooty terrain handled well. The main caution is slope use, since steep hills are a weak spot and Greenworks lists a 15 degree maximum. It is a strong fit for big, mostly flat properties.
Homeowners with a few acres of mostly flat grass, because it cuts fast and clean, handles 1.5 to 2.5 acres, and stays quiet with low maintenance.
It is not a good choice for steep slopes. Greenworks recommends a maximum 15-degree slope, and owners report it can slide or miss the mark on inclines, so it works better on flatter ground or when mowing carefully up and down mild slopes.
Yes, it can cut tall grass and rough ground well. It has been used on 2.5- to 3.5-foot weeds, 6- to 8-inch fescue, and rooty or bumpy terrain, though the ride can be rough and uneven spots can cause scalping if you approach them poorly.
Real-world runtime is around 1.5 to 2.5 acres depending on grass height, terrain, and battery setup. Reports include about 2 acres in roughly an hour, about 1.5 acres with no problems, and about 2.5 acres on 4 batteries.
Yes. The included wall charger plugs directly into the mower, so the batteries do not need to be removed for charging. The charger is an all-in-one setup that stays on the mower's battery rack.
No. It can operate with as few as three batteries, and it will also run with more batteries installed for longer runtime. The battery compartment has three columns tied to drive, right blade, and left blade functions, so each column needs at least one battery to start.
do you need all 6 batteries for use. We have a 48v mower now. If I get this and a 60v push mower that comes with one battery, My wife may need to use one of these batteries in the push mower while charging the other battery.

They sell the same model with 4 batteries, so I'm assuming it would work with 5 batteries too. You probably just get less runtime using 1 less battery.
EDIT: From Greenworks FAQ for this model:
"How many batteries do I need to start the machine? At least three. The battery compartment has three columns, each controlling different functions: drive function, right blade function, and left blade function. You can operate the machine once each column has at least one battery."

Looking to gain some knowledge on these higher-end (3k+) electric mowers that use batteries: how do you guys that have bought something like this compare the economics to something like a traditional gas mower? The cost of replacing these batteries seems pretty high because of their capacity. When outside of the warranty period do you feel its still worth paying the cost to replace a battery (or more)? I would love to buy one of these but the long-term economics vs a gas zero turn kind of puts me off. Apart from that with a gas mower I feel its easier to replace / rebuild things like the engine to keep it running for a while. What is the repairability like for these EV mowers?
Greenworks is based out of NC. I've had this mower for 3 years and zero issue/regrets ($2,500 due to a pricing mistake). This is how I got out of gas powered yard work. Once you are in the 60 volt system you'll find the trimmer, blower, chainsaw - are all very powerful and you no longer need the gas powered versions. The batteries have a 4 year warranty, obviously I haven't needed it. There's also OEM replacement batteries on eBay right now for $171 if you want some extras. 2.5 acres is accurate for run time and this mower will cut through 6-8" thick fescue grass without an issue. Also, if you don't put the blades on high speed it's super quiet. It's so quiet you can actually mow early in the morning before it gets too hot and use the headlights to see.
*don't try to buy 'knock off' batteries as these are Bluetooth enabled and must communicate to the controller to work.
This mower is a steal at this price. I have it and it came with smaller capacity batteries and I paid about the same and I thought that was a great deal. I love mine.

You do not need to use all six batteries in this mower. I have it you can use a few as one or as many as six and it will work just fine.
my retired neighbor has this mower and its super silent and dropping the deck to sharpen/ change blades is super easy since there is no belt. I am jealous.
Okay, I pulled the trigger. I've been a hard-core 40V Greenworks user and waited 4 years to get a ride-on mower. They accepted the order and says it's "shipped" for delivery Thursday with a Maersk freight tracking number.
