It's not practical. Probably good for a 10 minutes section before your hand cramp.

For any doubters- I recently picked up 4 8BitDo controllers of this size. I tested it out on a couple metroidvania style games that are really intense, and as a dude with large hands I was totally kicking butt. The size is so weird and I didn't know what to expect, but it's not the size that counts - it's how you use it!

I bought two of these just now to see how it goes, hopefully I remember to report back (I won't remember, I promise).

I wish I had some kind of remote for my HTPC, reaching for wireless mouse is a hassle.

These are very well built controllers with excellent build quality. Compared to 8BitDo Micro I would recommend these if your use case is to use it only as a controller (X-input or Switch or Android). In terms of sturdiness and construction, these are clearly better. Unfortunately, the problem with these are there is absolutely no customization possible at all. The app is pretty much useless.

The biggest advantage of the 8bitdo micro is that it can present itself as a keyboard (in addition to X-Input and Switch controller), and you can customize any button to be any keyboard key. That opens up a whole slew of non-gaming applications. For example, I use the 8BitDo micro to flip pages, change font size, brightness etc. on my Kobo Libra Color e-reader. Anyone doing any kind of custom project using a Rasberry Pi or something can use the 8BitDo Micro easily since any application that can recognize a Bluetooth keyboard will work.

At this price I'm buying this to control my phone via remote while listening to audiobooks. I often like to listen to audiobooks while reading the book alongside. I set up the Kobo on a gooseneck clamp and use one remote to control the Kobo, and another remote to control the phone. It's great when you just want to tuck yourself in under the covers and enjoy the book that way. I currently use two 8bitDo controllers, which can sometimes get confusing if I forget which one was in which hand. At this price I might as well retire one of the 8BitDo ones, and use the CRKD atom since you can set up commands on iPhone even with a regular X-input gaming controller (You can assign skip back, skip forward, volume up / down and play/pause relatively easily in iOS).

This size is great if you just want a small media remote in your hands for your Phone or iPad etc. Cause you can hold it vertically and use left / right keys to skip forward or back. Up / Down to control volume; and assign any or all the bottom four keys to play/pause. I agree that's not practical for gaming. But if you have an application that can use a Bluetooth controller as input, these can be handy.

This style are 1000% better than trying to play using (the same size or smaller) layout on your phone but with actual physical buttons vs the hand cramping you normally get trying not to drop your phone while also attempting to use a flat glass screen as a controller.

I bought one of these and paired with my legion go. It would lose connection every minute or so, and then reconnect. Impossible to play a game with. Returned it the next day. Ymmv

There's a reason why wired connections still reign supreme.
