I also agree it's shady with the new shrinkflation angle too. I can't stand that.
I can't speak for the Gold, but Black has been $2+ each for a long time. You could get Red for ~.80 each on a deal, but I've never seen the black that low and I've had price alerts with the Camels setup forever.+

That said, I usually just get the cheaper red and add an egg and some frozen veggies to it for a healthier more filling meal.
Once you go black, you never go red.
