I also agree it's shady with the new shrinkflation angle too. I can't stand that.

Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black and Gold are the premium Shin bags, with richer broth and firmer noodles than the cup version. Black is described as beef bone broth with a more robust, less spicy flavor, while Gold is chicken flavored and also gets praise for taste. The packs include three seasoning packets, and the noodles are often dressed up with egg, cheese, or vegetables for a fuller meal. The main caution is price and shrinkflation, since the deal is compared against cheaper Shin Red and Costco pricing, and the coupon does not always appear.
Ramen fans who want a richer broth, because the Black and Gold versions use bone broth or chicken broth and taste more robust than regular Shin.
Home cooks building a fuller bowl, because the seasoning works well with an egg and the noodles pair easily with frozen vegetables or meat.
People who prefer firmer noodles, because this bag version stays chewier than the cup version.
Shoppers comparing premium ramen value, because the quality and ingredients justify paying more than basic beef-flavor noodles.
Buyers looking for the cheaper red Shin substitute, because this is the premium Black or Gold version with a different broth profile.
People expecting the cup version to taste clean, because the mushrooms in the Black cup version can taste rancid.
Shoppers who want a mild noodle soup, because even the mild versions can still taste hot.
People who want a low-seasoning bowl, because the included seasoning can be strong enough that half a packet is suggested.

That said, I usually just get the cheaper red and add an egg and some frozen veggies to it for a healthier more filling meal.
Just learned there's a black and gold version. The black is "beef bone broth" and the gold is "chicken broth".
I lived in korea and added egg, cheese and beef from bbq skewers is common and delicious. Thin sliced like cheese streak meat.

The people asking "why Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black over Maruchan Beef Flavor, which is cheaper?" are effectively asking "why a Chipotle taco over a Jack-in-the-Box taco, which is cheaper?" Quality and ingredients.
You may be thinking of the Shin Red, which is their cheaper spicier variant that's available at most Costco warehouses.
