KFC's $15 12 piece bucket is a flat price chicken deal that works out to the same $1.25 per piece as the Tuesday 8 piece offer, but with four extra pieces and the flexibility to order any day. The bucket is often described as dark meat only, usually drums and thighs, and the app or product page can show mixed pieces before changing in cart. Availability is spotty by market, and some locations do not honor the promo. The deal is most useful when you want more chicken without paying a la carte prices.

$15 is profitable yet they normally charge $30. Yeesh.
How do you know that $15 is profitable? I'm not disputing your statement but would like to know your math and facts regarding your assertion.

It says above dark meat only no substitutions. Maybe they like you where you got yours and gave you some white meat pieces??
I think you're right. I was actually saving this offer to eat later and hadn't clicked all the way through. When you click on the deal it takes you to the product page where it says you get both white and dark, so I assumed it was more correct than the terms you referred to, which is hidden behind a fine print link. But if you actually add it to the cart, the text changes and says you only get thighs and drums, which to me is a little deceptive.

Yep, it looks like someone at KFC messed things up with this offer (not sure if it's all KFCs or just certain locations though). When I click to redeem the $15 bucket offer in the app (from the "Offers" tab), it says that it includes 3 each of breasts, thighs, drums, and wings (I believe that's the generic offer wording that everyone sees before actually choosing to buy it). I then tried adding the deal to my cart and one location said that the store doesn't offer that item. So I switched to another location and the cart showed a 12 pc bucket of drums and thighs. So the offer in cart doesn't match the original offer description from the Offers tab. Screenshots attached from the store I checked.

Been over a decade since I've had KFC and it's blowing my mind that a 12 piece bucket normally goes for $30
Right? Been longer for me. We had a DISGUSTING one that closed ages ago; since before it closed, I've not had it.
Quite a while back, I looked @ Popeye's {never had it} & like you, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Claude AI - I got tired of reading the BS and just asked it to settle the issue. Btw - KFC has shrunk the size of the pieces far below that of others like Church's Texas Chicken - they are pathetically small and the ones I tried a few months ago in the KC area were overcooked. I will never go back.

analyze the deal and see who is right about what the best deal actually is.

Calculated per-piece costs and discount percentages across deals

Per piece they're identical. The split is on which metric you use.

The numbers:

This deal: 12 pc / $15 = $1.25/pc
Tuesday deal: 8 pc / $10 = $1.25/pc
12 pc à la carte: $27.99 → $2.33/pc
8 pc à la carte: $20.49 → $2.56/pc

% off à la carte:

12-pc deal: ($27.99−$15)/$27.99 = ~46% off
8-pc deal: ($20.49−$10)/$20.49 = ~51% off

Who's right:

Isitbudgetfriendly — right after the correction. Not cheaper per piece, but bigger % off (because the 8-pc à la carte is overpriced, which inflates the discount).

bugblatter and RelaxedRoad8013 — right. Same $/pc, $5 per 4 pieces either way.

Gameross — right that it's not new, but the Tuesday deal is Tuesday-only; this one runs through 7/12 any day.

XealO — wrong, and admitted it. 12 vs 8 is 4 more pieces (50% more), for 50% more money. It scales linearly, not "2 pieces."

Bottom line: there is no cheapest — both deals are $1.25/pc. Pick by what you want: more chicken any day → 12-pc; smaller portion / biggest headline discount / Tuesday → 8-pc.

Just tell them you would rather pay the $30. I'm sure they'll accomodate.

Good deal. The Tuesday $10 8pc bucket is also the same $/pc. All drums and thighs (dark meat). Of course, the downside is you can only get it on Tuesday Smilie

Correction: I originally thought you would get white meat too, since if you click on the deal it takes you to the product page which says specifically that you get both. But if you add it to the cart, it changes the bucket to thighs and drums only (which seems a little deceptive). The terms mentioned in the OP are hidden behind a fine print link, which seemed contradictory to what the page was showing, which I chose to believe instead.
Man, you are a meticulous person. Keen eyes.
