Good for a broke non-working high school or college kid cheap PC. Or if you have a minimum wage job and work for one week it would be smart to spend $300 more and get something 3x better.
I disagree. I think this laptop is good for the majority of users I would think. I use a worse computer as my main driver and have no issues doing basic computing. I wouldn't game on this but went browsing and most normal computing would be fine on this.

I have this machine. Paid $225 last time it came around. It does not have a USB4 port (Unlike the 640 G9). It has a Superspeed USB-C 10GB port that supports alt-displayport 1.4. This supports up to 64gb of ram and has a 2nd internal 2230 nvme slot thats there for an optional WWAN card.
I threw in 64gb of ram, a 4TB 2280 , and a 2TB 2230 NVMEs. Other than the occasional long cold boot caused by the BIOS's memory testing, this machine is great.

So you threw $2000 worth of upgrades into a $200 laptop.
Hardly. Pre-AI prices.$228 for the ram. $344 for storage. Find me a machine with these specs that cost $860 in November 2025.
Cool. So you have a time machine?
What's that, you don't, and neither does anyone else? And most people don't stockpile RAM and NVMes, especially in higher capacities?
I was just joking around a bit, because I bought some NVMes in Nov/Dec so I actually CAN afford to buy a laptop with little or nothing in it (but unfortunately sold many for $110 that I could now sell for $300). Unfortunately, like most people, I didn't think just SIX MONTHS AGO that RAM was going to go absolutely insane, so I didn't stockpile any.
But joking aside, you paid AS MUCH for the RAM as the laptop. And MORE than the laptop for the storage.
And the prices for those today are easily TRIPLE or more than just six months ago, so if anyone wanted to duplicate your upgrades, they really would spend near $2000.
And here's another "I'm not joking" - if RAM prices continue to spike, and this laptop hovers around this price, people will be buying it to shuck it. The AI bubble needs to EXPLODE, and NOW.

Ok so...calm down? The machine's value hasn't changed. Its still a good deal at this price, regardless of the cost of the upgrades I did to MINE. Its a fine machine OOTB.

Calm down, says the guy that can't take a RAMpocalypse joke...
Yes, it's a good deal, especially in the AI timeline we're suffering through.

And I though *I* believed in overkill...
