This hits almost all the sweet spots for a sub-$200 unlocked phone - 8/128GB, headphone jack, 2025 or newer, 5G, microSD card support, manufactured by a major brand. The only thing that could make this better is if it was the stylus (which has magnetic charging and, of course, a stylus).

Samsung really needs to bring back micro sd card support for it's top tier phones. Stop being so stingy like Apple

The Moto G Power 5G 2025 covers the basics well for a sub 200 unlocked phone, with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, 5G, microSD support, a headphone jack, wireless charging, and a bright LCD that works outdoors. It is also a bit larger than many Samsung and Moto G phones, with strong volume and solid battery features. The main knocks are the slower MediaTek processor, no OLED, and only 1080p video. Update support and price also draw concern, so it feels most appealing if those tradeoffs are acceptable.

  • The phone includes microSD card support and a headphone jack for flexible everyday use.

    ellemdee

  • The LCD screen can stay bright enough for outdoor viewing during daily activities.

    Square008

  • Charging performance is reported as good, including wireless charging capability.

    Square008

  • The phone can keep working after security updates stop while still receiving important security updates per Motorola guidance.

    PuzzleFighter

  • The display is reported as a low-end LCD rather than OLED, which can affect expectations for screen quality.

    jimx200nosurprisespls

  • Camera performance is criticized for limited video capability, including 1080p video and no 4K recording.

    jimx200

  • The processor can feel slow during use, which may impact task switching and responsiveness.

    Square008

  • Motorola security updates are limited to three years, which can create a mid-2027 security risk for a 2024 model.

Note: Motorola only provides 3 years of security updates. Therefore, buying a 2024 version will become a security risk mid 2027.
Worth buying a 2024 for 1 year? You decide.
I would say, yes and add that you can keep on using the phone for years after such security updates stop. You'll still keep getting important security updates anyway. [lenovo.com] from what Moto security says.

And has an OLED screen.Might be better off with the Stylus 2024, pretty much the same specs as the G Power 2025 but you can get it for $179 at 128GB or $199 for 256GB. And it does have a stylus.Compares G power 2025 to G stylus 2024 [youtube.com]

I agree with others who said the 2025 Moto G Stylus is the one to get. It is extremely well reviewed and the vast majority say its currently the best bang for your buck. I got two 128GB Moto G Stylus 5G (2025) and paid $70 for both phones during the recent TF deal. I use one for outdoor activities and motorcycle trips so I dont have to risk any of my flagships. If I happen to destroy one, Im out $35 and have another already cloned and ready to replace it. The OLED screen is a HUGE upgrade over phones lacking the tech. The screen is bright and easily viewed in broad daylight. The 8GB RAM is a very welcome upgrade to anything with 6GB or less when task switching. Swapping phones is as easy as removing the sim and SD cards and moving them to another phone in less than a minute. The camera is its weak-ish point, but it takes perfectly acceptable pics under most conditions. Most bloatware is quickly and easily uninstalled or disabled (a quick search shows you which ones and what they do). Even comes with wireless charging. All in all, a fantastic phone for the price and will work well as a daily driver for +95% of its users. Moving back to any non-moto phone always finds a level of instant regret, when you discover they lack the many intuitive built-in moto features you became used to.
Bottom line: if I destroy or lose my two 128GB Moto G Stylus 5G (2025) phones (dont laugh... I play hard), I would buy another without hesitation and move on.

My 2022 Edge is almost out of updates, but is a better phone that this, according to google IA. I only paid $139.99 for my edge via amazon thanks to SlickDeals back in April of 2024.
What's my point? This isn't too great of a deal, but I may have to get something like this soon anyway. Updates expire on my phone in a few months.
What's the big deal about updates? I only use my phone for calls and texts so I have no financial information to get hacked.

LOL. This isn't even close to a good deal. I bought the 2024 Moto G Power for peanuts compared to this bundled with extra accessories just 6 months ago. The 2025 isn't worth this much more. Same amount of RAM and storage also.
What did you pay and when?

Not a OLED screen, but has the low end LCD screen. Low quality camera, 1080p video and no 4k.

Updates go beyond being hacked. Updates ensure that you have the latest support for either apps, software, web browsing, even carrier support.

The delivery date is now July 22-26 (at least for Prime members), so make sure you can wait, if you order from Amazon.

Motorola seems to be a couple days behind on processing orders out (based on my order of a different phone), but it's not as bad of a delay as over a week from Amazon.
