I have the expensive Costco one and it's pretty old. The seal rotted away and water got in the handle so it's not charging. The only thing I can see is it doesn't have a lot of the different settings like different cleaning methods. I never used those anyway so I'm just going with this one now.

I did some more digging and the difference from my old model hx6920 and this new one is the old one has more brushing modes, better battery life, nicer handle (rubber grip, lights) and some more custom routines like go care and max care. other than battery life the rest is meaningless to me but it's not like I'll be gone for 14 days and will need better battery life. so this cheaper one is a win for me

Zero reason other than Costco will have your back for if (when) this fails.

I've used sonicare from 2002 to 2019, and I couldn't stomach paying for replacement heads for basically my whole extended family. I switched to fairywill during COVID, where the handle AND eight heads together probably cost under $15. The brand isn't amazing on its own, but it shows that many cheap Chinese alternatives do just as good of a job. No one can show an empirically better clean with pricier brands, so just rate them based on convenience and cost.

My handle is six years old but the way, and holds a charge for at least a week and a half still ๐Ÿ’ช

I got a 4100 on sale a few months ago and I couldn't believe how wimpy it was. Anything 4100 and below uses cheap little motors like you'd find in a children's toy. The higher models still use the old style of motor that actually vibrates enough to clean plaque properly. You might as well just buy one of those $9 OnlyOne brushes, at least it comes with 2 years worth of brush heads.

That is my point. there is literally no empirical evidence at all for EITHER toothbrush being cleaner than the other. the only variable that has shown a difference IS the price, and durability, for me.

But im just a random on the internet. As is everyone else here. Add my anecdote to the pile of others.

Grabbed these for $8 from woot a few months ago. Works as good as my old Costco one that was seriously dated. Just one model which is fine.

FYI: The aggressive brushing modes destroy them within 2 years. The area around the shaft cracks inside and gets annoyingly loud. It's an ingenious method to get you to buy more. I went through 3 before I realized this. I'm going on 4 years on the same brush since I stopped using the more aggressive mode.

Good deal. I have the 3100 series, but this one here has all the features I use. I'm much more pleased with this than the old, huge, loud E-series that got moldy inside the big, complicated screw-on head attachment.

This one is cost-effective with 3rd-party heads for a buck a piece; you're set for many years. Tip: take 5 seconds and pull off the head and dry the connection points after each brushing to stop the possibility of water intrusion.

I've used both Sonicare and Oral-B toothbrushes. In my experience, I get better plaque removal from Oral-B than Sonicare. I wouldn't waste my money on a Sonicare no matter how cheap it is. After brushing, drag your fingernail across your teeth. See what comes up.

You just need 2 settings. High frequency and low frequency settings which is standard in lower model like these. Don't waste money spending more for more features.

FWIW, I already have a Sonicare 4100 and decided to grab the OnlyOne toothbrush (https://slickdeals.net/f/19698942-8-99-onlyone-rechargeable-sonic-electric-toothbrush-w-8-brush-heads-at-amazon) for about $10 with 8 brush heads. The replacement heads fit my Sonicare handle perfectly, so it's been a much cheaper way to keep using my Sonicare without paying Philips prices for heads.

I also compared the OnlyOne handle side by side with my Sonicare 1100, and personally I couldn't tell a meaningful difference. Both leave my teeth feeling equally clean๐Ÿ˜ท

This is a great low cost toothbrush. It's slimmer than previous models and it works well.
