Why forced out? I haven't had a price increase to an old grandfathered unlimited plan. It's still $185/mo. for 6 lines though. The biggest reason for staying has been the perks like free Netflix and Hulu.
185 for 6 lines sounds meh. Maybe that's why they haven't forced you off it?

  2. Not unlimited data for those that use more than the 50gb or so Mint provides for the phone or 20gb for hotspot. Visible and US mobile will be the main alternatives.
  3. Friend was on it for years, no issues in SoCal with light data usage.

Incorrect, data use is UNLIMITED. Unlimited customers who use over 50GB/mo. may notice reduced speeds for the rest of the monthly cycle in certain locations

Many will see no difference over 50, some will notice reduced speeds, but the data is indeed UNLIMITED.

How does this compare to the Google Fi 50% off unlimited plan that expired on 6/30? I signed up but thinking of going with Mint instead.

I'm facing the same dilemma Smilie. The problem with Google Fi is that you don't have International Data Roaming option unless you are on the most expensive plan, which means if you travel abroad - you are screwed! Frown Mint has reasonably priced 1-3-10 day packages. Plus, Google Fi support is next to non-existent from what I've heard. So, I guess, Mint is a winner for me.

Are all the T-Mobile users like myself were being forced out looking at this deal I'm shopping around and right now this does seem to be pretty much the lowest I can find
I was in the same boat at T-Mobile for over a decade just got too pricey for what I needed and I wanted a service that rides the same network. I moved both phones over in December when they had their holiday deal and I noticed no difference in performance and speed, it's like I never left T-Mobile

No one can beat Spectrum for 1 year free mobile service with Internet required. I am currently on 2nd free year and I will do it again when the 2nd free year is done on upcoming September.

My renewal is up in 14 days. Anyone know if they'll at least offer some sort of discount on a renewal? I assume they won't give you this offer though.
That seems to be the issue, so every year have to leave and bounce around ugh

I was on T-Mobile for years, then I switched to Mint for $15 a month for 10GB. Renewed it last year at the same price/GB but I had to call in and threaten to switch to US Mobile to get the same rate. This year, I officially switched to US Mobile for their $20 unlimited + hotspot. Mint wanted me to renew at $20/month for 15GB so I bailed.
Same issue i assume will have to jump around next year as all these deals seem good for only a year

Was there tax charged on the phone ? If yes, tax based on the $20 cost of phone or original cost of phone?

If anyone else knows. please chime in (especially for California).

Thanks
My total came out $228.8, with $25 recovery fee, so no phone tax i think or very little

actually a year is pretty good given so many phone plan deals that are 'hot' are for 3 to 6 months only. I can deal with the hassle 1x a year but not every 3 months. Just not worth the time involved IMO.

Essentially you are locked in for 2 years and can only be done on 1 line.

Did you threaten to cancel after second year that they gave it to you again?

Spectrum is in limited areas and I've heard mixed on their service and comcast's 'free' cell service that comes w/these internet deals.

No, I got 1 year free offer each time, not 2 year free offer at one time. Each time when the year of service was up, I ported out to US Mobile for free 30 days; then I saw 1 free year offer again so I ported back in to Spectrum for 2nd year free. This time I will call them to ask for a free year of service at the end of September. I have heard some people got 2 years free offer at one time.
