I had to do this but also noticed that there is a slight delay between pressing the trigger and shooting the nail and you can't ease the trigger until the nail has fully shot. This seems to help alot.
I have the dewalt one as well and it is much better.
For most ryobi vs dewalt I find them comparable in function though not in build quality but for the nail gun there is a huge difference in nails getting jammed or malfunctioning.
