Probably, lol... I just pop the cover off mine and slip a label off-cut over the end of a battery to break the circuit when storing it.
Stupid design, they should have a physical off switch to prevent this (not just a momentary on/off button).

...because it's a pain in the arse to remove & reinstall batteries every time you use it/put it away again.

Does this one drain the batteries when not in use? Because two brother p-touches that I've used in the past, different models, drain the batteries when sitting in a drawer

Probably, lol... I just pop the cover off mine and slip a label off-cut over the end of a battery to break the circuit when storing it.

Hah! I noticed that in both models I've used that there is a large enough void to where you can pop out one of the AAA batteries to break the circuit and store the battery 🤣

I swear that Brother owns a bunch of stock in Energizer and Duracell to where they make their engineers design it to power drain but then they add that suspecially AAA sized void to store a battery in to help people out 😆

lol - I almost made a similar joke... because yeah that's a lot of batteries to just nuke all at once (takes 6 AAAs)

I don't really use mine much but I think I'm getting close to the end of the TZe sample cartridge it came with. This deal reminded me to add that to my list.

Most devices don't destroy 4xAA batteries when doing nothing and powered off. No other battery powered device in my home does that but this type label maker. For example, I have a wireless remote timer for my Christmas lights. That darn thing (if I forget to remove the batteries when taking down the lights), not only keeps time and date (thus is draining the battery when "off") yet still shows nearly full battery level 12 months later. P touch label maker can't last a month and it doesn't even have a built in clock on my model.

P.S. If someone wanted a device that needed to be manually powered every time they needed to use it...why would they even bother with a battery powered unit?
