What would you recommend for someone new to the hobby? I will be collecting with the intent of collecting high value cards to trade/sell to fellow collectors. My focus is on MTG & Pokémon

Short answer- If you're buying packs rather than singles, you probably want 'Collector's Boosters', rather than 'Play Boosters'.
Long story - Learn the game you're investing in. You'll spend more on packs chasing a specific card than if you were to just buy the card. If/when you get to the point of chasing serials, find communities that are recording what has been opened so that you know the odds. If you DO get a big hit, auction it, never take lowball DMs.
