This is exactly my issue with these. I've used this magnet to mark a few vertical points up & down a single stud, and usually the points are not perfectly lined up.

I've used MANY stud finders in the past, including the Franklin. Invariably, the battery-powered ones do not work when you need them. This one always works. Small. I keep it in my go bag all the time

The correct answer is to use both. Put the magnet on the wall and then double check with the Franklin. The stud should be right there...yep it is! 👍

Yup, same here.. I'm no professional- just a pretty hand DIYer and I always double check with this magnet and a separate stud finder.. Hasn't failed me yet.

This is a really good stuff I know. A lot of people think you need to have those electric ones but those are the absolute worst. I hate those cheap consumer stuff finders. Give me this or even a basic one with the magnet that move like a pendulum left to right. That is they're just my favorite. They have a level and man I can make stuff happen quick. Good deal

same. the magnetic stud finders will give you a good idea, but the sensor-based ones like Franklin will be more accurate and give you the mid/center of the stud itself.
