The Galaxy S22+ is a compact flagship that still has useful performance, a good screen, DeX, and USB C video out, which makes it handy for travel media, light desktop use, or even retro gaming. Battery life is the biggest strength and weakness split in the comments, ranging from a solid day or more to very short runtimes, with fast charging helping some setups. Heat, freezing, antenna problems, and screen burn in or green screen concerns also come up, and the refurbished listing appears to offer no warranty. It looks best for buyers who want the hardware features and can live with the risk on condition and longevity.

  • The S22+ can work well as a travel multimedia device using DeX and USB-C video out.

  • The S22+ can serve as a convenient mini PC for light tasks or media streaming via a USB-C HDMI dongle setup.

  • The S22+ can keep receiving updates and can be used as a spare music or video player without dying.

  • The S22+ can be used on AT&T since release without issues when usage is not heavy.

  • The refurbished S22+ can develop major performance slowdowns and overheating during normal use.

  • The refurbished condition can be unreliable because listings may include screen burn-in as an included condition.

  • The refurbished S22+ can have battery life that fails to last a full day and may require frequent charging.

  • The refurbished listing can lack warranty coverage, which increases risk for screen or hardware problems.

Nah, it's a good chip and the battery life issue is overstated. I used the S22+ for 2 years and it was always a 1 day+ phone for me.
Ok but that's the Plus model ofc it's gonna have a better battery life. I had a regular S22 and the battery was mediocre and ran HOT all the time, ended up switching to a Nothing Phone

What's up with Samsung's updates? I got an iphone SE from 2020 for $199 new and it's still getting full feature updates.
Samsung and Google have finally matched Apple's major update length. For Google it was the pixel eight. Can't recall which Samsung model

loving all the critical comments on a 165 dollar price tag as if we are comparing this to the 700-1200 dollar phones that are out today
It's worse to buy cheap junk than not buying anything.

If you're someone who keeps their phone for a long time, the s24 series is probably the best bang for the buck at the moment if you can find a good price for it. I believe they started receiving 7 year updates starting with the s24 series.

"The Phones have moderate scratches/scuffs and/or screen burn in"

Not 'may have' but 'have'. I don't care about scuffs, but any burn-in would be a deal breaker. Was considering this for a backup phone, but tough call chancing any sort of screen damage. The S22 also was notorious for the green-screen issue, which I'd presume falls under 'burn in' here.

After Samsung wanted me to pay $100 just to get my phone back from warranty, I don't trust Samsung new. Reburbished is an even harder pass.

Yes, I can confirm. I switched to a S24 after all the frustration with my S22 not even making it to the end of the day, and it's like night and day.
I switched from a 1988 corolla to a 2024 lexus and it was night and day too.

Any opinion on the condition of the phone? The reviews on ebay for the item are generally good, but have some bad reviews.
Unfortunately, the title is incorrect. It's not "refurb", it's used. This is a trend with these ebay resellers.

As in, garage sale used. If a place says "refurbished", but doesn't explicitly say what they've done -- then all they've performed is a power test, a wipe down of the casing, and a system reset.

No components have been replaced, no batteries refreshed, etc. In other words, nothing has been actually refurbished.

Descriptors such as "Very Good" or "Excellent" or "Open Box" are meaningless and vague enough to suggest pretty much anything. Don't be surprised if they sneak in machines that really ought to be in a lower tier. Assume any accessories (power supply, cabling, etc) are third-party or counterfeit.

You might get a device that's a corporate lease that's been babied on a lined desk for 3-4 years....or a beat-up road warrior mobile. Sight unseen. Good luck.

S22 refurbished pffff. if you want a phone that 80% before you leave house and dead before 2pm this is your phone. This probably best for a trade in. Brings me back the Galaxy S6 battery days.

Probably the worst phone I've ever owned. I would stay away from this phone, major performance and overheating issues.
I agree with s22 Ultra. Really horrible performance eventually antenna or some other major malfunction within 3rd year would not lock on a signal and would send all calls to VM or claim it's not registered. Known issue with 22 ultra can't imagine 22+ be any better.

This is by far the worst phone I've ever had. It lags when hot and I mean barely hot. Out in this summer heat it just freezes. I tried rebooting everything and same thing happens. Even my s20 was outperforming it. When I moved up to the s26 ultra. Night ans day difference. To be expected but still my s20 was outperforming this s22+ garbage. It only makes sense if you are buying to trade it in.
