Is it normal for Magsafe products to have a weak attachment to bare phones vs Magsafe cases?

A Magsafe Popsocket attaches securely to my (not even name brand) case, but falls off my Moto G Stylus (2025) at the slightest touch. I'd be nervous about using a Magsafe wallet on the back of my phone if it would also fall off as easily.

edit: My phone has wireless charging, but not Magsafe. Oops.

Moto G Stylus does not have MagSafe magnets built in the phone.

Yes. I have a MagSafe Popsocket and a MagSafe Popsocket Wallet. Both came with instructions to use a phone case for more secure attachment.

My mistake. I thought phones which support wireless charging also had Magsafe by default, but I misunderstood. I always use cases, but just didn't get one for that device yet and gave it a try

I've gotten cheap MagSafe wallets before. The magnets are so weak that they may as well not put them in there

I thought the magnets used for charging were the same as the magnets used for Magsafe products, but I made the wrong assumption. I will eventually use a case, so it won't matter, in the end. But, thanks for the clarification.

It's one of the dumbest ideas ever. It is literally inviting pickpockets (or pickcases) "I got credit cards and cash here. You can even see them. Come steal the whole case. It's so easy."
1. So you think you are walking around and if you don't have this, people won't assume you have cash and credit card with you?
2. You think the pickpockets care more about the cash that you can fit into this thing (not much) than your actual phone?
3. There are people who may just use this for driver's license and possibly hotel key on vacation.

i got another magsafe wallet on Amazon from SD and the magnet is VERY strong.

For $2, it might be worth the risk. This has smaller capacity than the one I got (5 cards), which may be a good thing since it might be slimmer.

However, i see a potential dealbreaking design flaw on this one.

On the one I got from Amazon, it's designed to keep the card in place because I think there is something that holds it in on the bottom. It's to the point where even with just 1 card, it's actually hard to pull it out if you push it all the way in. However, there's an opening on the bottom that let's you push up the card to take it out easily when you want to. There is no opening on this one. So it's ether going to be a pita to get the cards out or there is no anything grabbing it on the bottom to keep it safely from falling out.

In the video, they don't even show the wallet upside down when shaking to see if the cards fall out. Also in the video, he took the wallet off the phone too easily with what seem like barely any force. On the one I got, you have to dig your finger underneath it and pry it off. It's not easy to do because the magnet is so strong.

I think I am going to pass.

In case you are wondering, this is the one I got. It was $4 (not sure if it is still at that price):
