This mini PC is a compact Ryzen 7 255 and Radeon 780M machine aimed at light gaming and everyday use, with the 780M described as roughly GTX 1050 class and capable of triple A games on medium or low settings. The Oculink port is a standout for turning it into a small gaming rig, and the 6400 MT per second LPDDR5 memory is fast, though soldered and not upgradeable. The main concerns are stability and heat, with reports of freezing, WHEA errors, USB lockups, and stress test failures. A fresh Windows install and updated drivers are repeatedly suggested, but cooling and long term reliability remain the big question.

Common Questions (5)

  • Several reports point to instability under load, including freezing, WHEA warnings, and OCCT stress-test errors. A fresh Windows install, updated drivers, and better cooling may help, but the soldered RAM and compact mini-PC design can make heat-related problems more likely.

  • At around $500, it is viewed as a reasonable spec for the hardware, but some buyers think the value is better on competing mini PCs with expandable RAM, more storage, or a better-cooled case. The current price is also considered less attractive for gaming than it was when these systems were much cheaper.

  • The Radeon 780M is good for light-to-medium gaming and can run many AAA games at medium or low settings. It has been compared to a GTX 1050-level iGPU, so it is best suited to budget gaming rather than high-end settings.

  • No. The 16GB LPDDR5 memory is soldered, so it cannot be upgraded later. That makes the current configuration effectively fixed, unlike models that use removable SODIMM RAM.

  • A fresh Windows install is often recommended as the first step, and one detailed setup process includes installing Windows with Rufus, then adding WLAN, AMD, and Bluetooth drivers afterward. That approach reportedly fixed or avoided several software-related issues.

I just checked Windows event viewer. It keeps throwing WHEA warnings event 47 even without doing anything. There must be something wrong with my new S3A.
I personally would return it if you can. Remmember... the Ryzen 7 255 CPU's are ALL broken CPU's and the sku is not even mentioned within AMD's north American data base.

If you can do it again, I would buy the F5A version and perhaps SODIMM RAM (knowing what I now know... it's a tough one).

When I got my FIrebat, I used it for about six weeks before I purchased my upgraded memory and harddrive. The day I switched out the memory from 16GB to 32GB, I started to experience cold starts. I hated that feeling and all my research came down to the memory timing that my new memory has is not the same as the Samsung's RAM timing which is tuned to the motherboard. And the bios of mini pc's are very limited and the firebat's bios did not have anything regarding the memory timing.

But I paid $232 for my firebat (8745HS, 780M, 16GB and 512GB) and sold it for $380 five months later and got my F5A Acemagic 370 HX.

I guess I pick a nerve from the seller. It does freeze. Dont be angry seller. I'm just stating the facts and what I experience
Forget about the freezing... You said it RUNS SLOW. And this is where I am questioning you.

What we know is these mini PC's have ZERO BLOATWARE... so why would you say it runs slow? Is it you got throttled?

I don't see this being a slow PC and the fact that you say it is... it makes no sense to me.

Like a person says the new corvette is a slow car. Maybe for the person who is use to faster cars, it may seem slow but really a corvette is NOT a slow car. That is what you sound to me... it sounds like you are saying the corvette is a slow car.

And I am NOT the seller. I just believe in great value.

I've had an ace magician for 4 years running 24/7 and have never had an issue with it. I will say the first thing I did was do a fresh install of Windows.
I got three AM18. One is slowing down. Unsure why but a quick reinstall windows 11 and it's working normal now. The other ones are doing just fine. By the way, do you have wifi issues with this model? I hardwired the AM18 to the router because the wifi constantly stop working and required reinstalling the driver each time.

780m has a little under half of the GPU compute compared to the steam machine, but should work for light games.

IIRC its comparable to a GTX 1050
I read it's the same or similar to other handhelds like the legion go. I dunno, I got one and installed CachyOS on it. Install was smooth, Steam big picture runs great, and it handles indie games fine. Bluetooth is flaky, but that's been my experience with all non-Apple devices.

Not bad. It has Oculink, which is a big plus if someone wants to turn it into a mini gaming PC. Be aware it has a 1x16GB SODIMM, so you'd really need to pair it with another for the dual channel performance boost.
occulink sounds good in theory but its the opposite of good value.

There is always a deal to be found. Will it be the same value as six months ago... the answer is no.

Look, six months ago I got a laptop for $199 that came with 16GB of DDR5 5600 RAM. Today I can sell the memory for $200.

And your's is not that simular. I purchased a simular one about 6 months ago... 8745HS 16GB 512GB for $232 and last week they sold the barebone system for $165.

I would like to know the facts...Again, did you upgrade your RAM? Why would your CPU run slower then everyone else's CPU?I do not think you are stating the "facts"... nothing you said makes sense to me.Why did you not return the item? Why was your CPU slow when it is a fast CPU?Lastly, when you said you bought one... are you talking about this exact same mini pc? or are your talking about a system from Acemagic?P.S. I am not the seller. I just want to UNDEDRSTAND the product.
Wow you really picking on people that had bad experience. That makes us wonder. Is like we cannot have our opinion but your own. The sellers. Lol

I pick on people who I don't trust. There are many people who will say negative things just because the item is made in China.

Also, if you install XYandZ and it makes your computer slow, who's fault is that?

And like, if you had a PC that freezes all the time don't you think you would have returned it?

Lastly, I also asked a few questions and they never get answered such as... did you upgrade anything... I get a response but not about my question.

If a product is bad, I want to know. But from talking to people on this thread it made me happy that I got the F5A case and not this one for my mini PC.

From what I can tell from my conversations... this PC may have a overheating issue that is effecting the soldered RAM... but I could be wrong. While soldered RAM is mostly all positive... the one negative is that it gets soldered very close to the CPU and if the CPU overheats, this heat can encompass the RAM and cause your system to fail... RAM can not handle heat very well.

I bought one and it's slow. I wanted to return... but I can't anymore. Not sure why but it keeps freezing all the time. Them I have to keep restarting the pc. I would never buy this brand anymore
A lot of this could be software issues. A fresh windows install and every driver updated should clear up some of the issues. I've never had this brand before but the hardware seems solid for the price.

If you are not the seller why you need to be all over everyone here and try so hard defending every opinion here? Sounds like someone is getting paid....
I call out the bullshit when I see it. SO sorry you feel that it is in the Vendor's favor.

I already said... I personally would not get this mini pc due to the heating issues that other people have mentioned... does that sound like I am the Vendor?

So you think I am getting paid cause I say do not buy this model cause of the chatter on this forum about the over heating issues and soldered RAM.

WOW...

So, you tell me... if you purchased a PC and it froze all the time would you give it back?

And if you tell me these specs run slow knowing there is ZERO bloatware... does that make sense?

I have also owned a similar system and currently own the F5A with the 370 HX.

Based on this person... who wants a PC that is SLOW and that FREEZES ALL THE TIME.

The problem is that this CPU is not slow, it is fast... so everything you have said, I can not believe.

So sorry but I just don't understand.

I would assume your PC is just as fast as any PC that has the RYzen 7 255 which to me is a good and is also a fast CPU.

I don't understand, you find this CPU too slow???

We know there is no bloatware... I still do not understand. Maybe you just need that M4 CPU by apple... you know don't spend $467.50 spend twice as much money and get yourself apple mini with a M4.

I find this CPU fast enough for every and it can play all games well enough. I find comments like yours are not real.

So I need to install it... but I did download it.

The thing is I get my games from IRC... all hacked. But the game is 100% played on y computer so they normally run faster.

FUnny right... the illegal game runs faster then the paid game. But I can not play online, only story modes.
