edit: I got 8 thumbs downs so I'll explain, I've built a dozen e-bikes with batteries, controllers, motors and bike mtb bike frames off amazon... for the batteries I buy budget 18650 battery packs for resale and they are terrible compared to a major brand like 'unit pack power' who uses Panasonic 18650... the Panasonic cells e bike battery packs are pricey but well worth it. holding charge while sitting and last much longer while riding...

When you compare something like this (and it's sister models with more Wh) you'll see that a traditional UPS actually isn't as useful as this type of battery/system this device provides.
Let's take a UPS with VA1500, meaning about 488 Wh, but only 50% is truly effectively usable, and the cycle count is about 300-500, so no where close to as long lasting. So 488 * 50% =244 Wh effective efficiency useful. Take this with one of its big-brother models at 288 Wh (currently $140), multiply that by 90% = 259 Wh. And with 3000+ cycle count, that's about 10 times longer life and actually greater theoretical power.
For how often a UPS is discharged the number of cycles is completely irrelevant.
The main thing you are missing in your analysis is the HUGE advantage of lead acid batteries: They can dump POWER. A 10-15C (capacity in Ah) amp draw is not problem for them. Meaning you can have a pair of standard 12V 7AH batteries and draw a KW from them. An equivalent sized LIFEPO4 battery at 12V 20AH would only be able to produce 250W of output (I am sure there are some better cells out there but the chemistry is inherently limited here).
That said. I am using LIFEPO4 backup batteries for low wattage devices like modems, routers, alarm systems, access control systems. But, a traditional lead acid UPS is still better for a desktop that is crunching or doing modest gaming at 300-500W or more.

My main issue with the 2, low end, lead acid APCs that I've had in the past, is that they start giving me the occasional, loud, low power or dead battery alarm notifications after about 4 years of (barely any dead grid power) use. Then they seem to completely die about 2 years later.
Will an LFP UPS (like this post) have a longer life before dying completely?
