So, is the container plastic or ceramic? Bc if it is plastic, you'd expose urself to microplastic
Even my manual grinders the worm gear that crushes the peppers has always been plastic... On another brand, The plastic housing had a tab broke after i dropped it so now its loose. Glass could break and probably harder to design a lock. so I just hope their locking tab is thicker plastic. As far as microplastics go i'd say this one is quite minimal since theres no heat or water involved.

What sites aren't filled with 50% sponsored junk?
SD is over 90% sponsored. I have been on it for 20 years. The site used to be great -- a dozen FP deals a day that we were legit deals, price mistakes, etc. Then it got sold (twice actually) and went from a user driven site to a sponsored one. Hired a bunch of staff to find "deals", got paid to promote products, game the voting system etc. This is sponsored without explicitly saying so:
-Unlisted coupon code (provided by manufacturer to help track how much traffic SD brought)
-Posted by staff
-Number of upvotes is out of proportion to deal quality and # of comments. 300 TU on a product that isn't significantly better or cheaper than competitors (search Amazon or AliExpress).
-Thread is full of shills. Classic shill comments include deal is dead/not working (create FOMO) followed by it is working, ty op in for 2-3, this would make a great gift, I bought this product from this reputable company and it was great, etc.

It's sad because I used to love coming to this site but rarely visit it since it is filled with so many crappy deals that it is hard to find actual deals. Maybe someone could make a site that scans SD, removes deals posted by staff, tries to detect shills and give lower priority to those deals, makes sure TU:comment ratio is within a certain range, etc.

If the battery is not replaceable, then it's just another landfill item. I'd rather buy a set of manual grinders.

100% agree on this one. It was great until the COVID times. Now, you can almost be certain that the most upvoted deals (except the free ones, Costco, some gift cards and restaurants) are all sponsored. Especially Amazon upvoted deals are sponsored.. This salt and pepper grinder is half the price on Chinese sites.

Grabbed the silver ones just now. I hate our old grinders so time for an electric upgrade! Thanks OP!

A complete and utter waste. They will break, grind slooow, get stuck, have limited use in anything but pepper and salt, are bulky and heavy, and will hurt your hand, its button is awkwardly placed and will hurt your thumb.

It is over promised and over engineered junk that still doesn't work right because no one took a class in design. They use to sell these as white elephant gifts years ago. $20 is way too much to pay for this, and it will rapidly end up in the back of your upper shelf unused, and still taking up space.

You can buy empty salt and pepper shakers that functionally work way better than this for $1.
Not my experience at all. Bought almost a year ago and love them. They sit on the counter and get used by the whole family every day. I change the pepper grinder easily to grind different types of pepper seeds and dried herbs; similar with the salt, pink salt, sea salt, smoked salt, etc. Charge overnight maybe every couple months.

Maybe you're doing it wrong. Grinding things you're not supposed to. To say this is bulky and heavy is laughable! Sorry you hurt your thumb. This is clearly not the product for you. **sad trombone*

It has been tough times for deal hunters with prices generally rising, but I think the Amazon experience is worth it over Chinese sites for most people.
