Basically, there is an association between long term melatonin use and increased risk of heart failure. While it is a retrospective study, where correlation does not necessarily mean causation, still - 5 mg is on the higher end and melatonin isn't a great solution insomnia (behavioral changes are, but they require more effort than taking a pill)

Yea I break 1mg pills in half when I used them before. Can't see why someone would need 5mg.
And as said you should not be using these everyday. If you need them more than a couple times a week see a doctor please.
