Basically, there is an association between long term melatonin use and increased risk of heart failure. While it is a retrospective study, where correlation does not necessarily mean causation, still - 5 mg is on the higher end and melatonin isn't a great solution insomnia (behavioral changes are, but they require more effort than taking a pill)

0.2–0.3 mg of melatonin is close to the amount the body naturally produces !! Taking 5mg is simply overkill, irrespective of any side effects.

if you find the "dual release" works well for you

swanson makes a 3mg (vs this 5mg) version with similar formula

https://www.swansonvitamins.com/p...mg-60-tabs

there is always a 40% coupon for swanson though the prices used to be a lot better last year before tariffs and all the other nonsense

you might be accidentally burning up a one-time-per-account 40% off any nature's bounty in combo with the other product-specific coupon

The problem is not that they took melatonin, it's that the participants in the study are sleep deprived, that's what could cause heart issues, regardless if they are taking melatonin or not.

Yea I break 1mg pills in half when I used them before. Can't see why someone would need 5mg.

And as said you should not be using these everyday. If you need them more than a couple times a week see a doctor please.
