As for your example, yes, on a high dollar total, it does add up, but here it's $8, so .80 tax at 10% where your coupon use is still taxed on the product prices. so 80c for a tube of toothpaste AND a toothbrush isn't bad at all, not as good as free, but no where are you going to get Crest and Oral B for $1 for both.
