Does anyone really still have a *real* landline? 😂 My house doesn't even have a phone jack anywhere.
I do have a Google Voice "landline" using a VoIP adapter that these phone with which this phone set will work nicely to replace the huge old base I currently have.

I currently do, but ATT is ceasing service by the end of the year.

I would be nice if the two units could talk directly to each other but I understand that is all happens via the base.

These will be very cheap soon. Most of the major carriers have announced the landline service is ending. New development areas around me already cant get new landline service. But they can get fiber from the local telco.

They're only shutting down the old copper based stuff. All of the major providers still offer fiber/internet-based landline service, that still works with these exact phones.

I have the same 2 phones connecting to my Google Voice number through an adapter for the last 10 years. Very happy with them. Reliable light weigh phones, clear voice, cheap replacement batteries found on eBay. I paid somewhere around $20 10 years ago.

Kind of. They dont offer any type of POTS communication. They're not installing the phone boxes any more. The telco will offer you VoIP service that goes to your fiber router (or another box) that converts it over POTS to work with phones like these. That's if your new house has even been wired for a phone system, which probably isnt. It's the whole reason DSL and ISDN service is going away.

Same here. Riding out an old grandfathered ObiTalk box that still works with my consumer account until it finally goes kaput.
