Yes, but if you want the phones to unlock after 12 months, you have to have both phones in play for that period of time. Not sure if you can merge 2 plans for 2 phones into one for 2 years service?
few years ago I transferred two years from a two pack into another phone
tracfone didn't bother to lock clamshells but who knows what verizon is doing now
even the plans are weird now, clamshells have a different kind of service than android phones despite both being a year, so I am not sure what the transfer will do

Anyone knows for sure how to add this to an existing line so that service gets extended by a year?
Simply go to "Activate" while logged into your account. Choose new phone purchased from TracFone, choose to keep your number, and it should be in the drop down box.
To move service back to the original phone (if that's the goal), do exactly the same steps except choose bring your own phone rather than new phone.
I recently merged an account using minutes from an old HSN deal. Simply login and add the activation to your existing number.
Can you provide a bit more details? After you login to account, where do you add the activation? One way I know is to activate the new phone by keeping existing number, which will combine and extend the existing service. However, transferring everything back to the old phone is a hassle. Some said we need to wait a day to be safe. In addition, we may need a new SIM card to do it. Does anyone if the old SIM card on the old phone can be reused? If using eSIM, will it be easier? Thanks a lot in advance!

That's considered a new activation because you're activating new phone service & keeping current number, it's not really a "merge" (though it does combine new service with any current service).
A merge is combining 2 already active lines - which they stopped doing a while ago.

I always wait at least a day before transferring back just to make sure everything combined correctly - the phone shows in your account as inactive and can be easily reactivated online with same sim (it's recommended to always use original sim since it's registered to the phone).
It's not always necessary to wait but if there are any problems it's easier for support to fix when transfers are done on different days.

Just yesterday I harvested the plan from a Moto Play 2024 I purchased last November and merged it into my current phone number. I did this on the website, not the app. ** Be sure to take a snapshot of your Usage details before the first transfer, after the first transfer, before the second transfer and finally when all is done. ** I've read horror stories of the entire balance being lost because of a system glitch. You'll need that usage balance to argue your case with a rep. That's the risk of harvesting. Anywya, three hours later, I transferred my phone number (with merged min/tx/data with additional 1 yr srv) back to my original (and better quality) phone. To do this, on the account dashboard, expand the "Active Lines" box and find the SIM number of the original phone. Highlight and click on it. As before, be sure to select "keep my number". You will be sent a verification code via txt msg to the new (and active) line/phone. You will then be asked for the IMEI of the original phone to make sure it is compatible to the Tracfone network (and of course it is). Then select "Activate with the Physical SIM". I did not use a new SIM card. The Tracfone system still recognized the original SIM. If for some reason the phone starts acting up from having used the org. SIM, I have a new SIM at the ready to repeat the process. I've read online that you need a new SIM in the original phone because the original SIM is considered dead after the 1st transfer to the new phone. Maybe that happens if you wait too long to transfer back to the original service. I don't know. However, I've harvested plans between phones several times over the years and have never incurred a problem doing it this way. I've always waited 2-3 hours with never a problem.
What I have discovered, however, is that since Verizon took the helm, I no longer have Wi-Fi calling after transferring the service/phone number to a different phone. I get the error message "Unable to activate WiFi calling at this time. Please try again later." Never works. This has happened twice: Two different accounts and two different phone (Moto and Samsung) Once I even tried using a new SIM in the original phone before the transfer back. I spoke to a Tracfone rep. Not always but is usually the case, the rep was clueless and tried convincing me my ISP (Specturm) is to blame. If anyone has a remedy to this problem, I'd truly appreciate assistance.

365 days with active service to unlock. These phones are really slow and living with it for 365 days is... The previous policy, 60 days was pretty good, I got one Moto G 2025 and unlocked. I used it as my hotspot device (with 5G support). Weak CPU + large battery give me a day of hotspot.

Unless something has recently changed TF bundled plans don't include hotspot - so you must be using on a different carrier. TF requires the more expensive monthly unlimited plans to use as hotspot. None of my (bundled service) phones on TF allow it.

I didn't mean the use of Tracfone for hotspot, I mean these tracfone phone once unlocked can be used as a hotspot device (I use it as hotspot device with another provider). Hotspot on 1.5GB of data, I would use all of them in less than a day.
It is supported but not advertised. A number of Samsung have been successfully activated, but no official instrucrions
I've only used esim with unlocked Android/iOS phones on TF - recent Motos, Pixels & Samsungs will activate with esim.
Bundled phones have the plan included with the psim so usually need to be activated that way first.
