This HART 40 volt 20 inch self propelled mower stands out for its wide deck, decent runtime, and solid cutting performance on normal lawns. A 6.0 amp hour battery has covered about a quarter acre with charge left, and the mower has held up well over several years for some. The main drawbacks are weaker performance in thicker or taller grass and uncertainty around long term battery availability now that HART is no longer active. Warranty support has also been inconsistent, though replacement batteries have been sent in some cases, making it a practical choice if the size and battery situation work for you.
People mowing wider lawns who want fewer passes, because the 20-inch deck covers more ground than 16-inch models.
Buyers who need dependable long-term battery support, because aftermarket battery availability is uncertain and replacement shipping has been inconsistent.
HART has replaced failed mower batteries for some owners, but others report warranty approvals that never resulted in a shipped replacement. Long-term aftermarket battery availability is also a concern because HART is no longer active.
The HART has a 20-inch deck and self-propelled drive, while the Greenworks is a 16-inch push mower with a smaller battery. The HART is the better fit if you want wider cuts and less walking.
One 6.0Ah battery can reportedly mow about 0.25 acres and still have some charge left. That makes it suitable for small-to-medium yards without needing an immediate swap.
It can slow down in thicker or denser grass and may get stuck if you keep pushing through it. It is better suited to maintained lawns than overgrown sections.
Greenworks is push, this is self propelled. That's a pretty big difference. Plus 16" vs 20". And the smaller battery. Two completely different purposes.
I have the Kobalt brand of Greenworks, they make it, in 20 inches.
20, 21 inches is what you want, you don't need self propelled for an electric lawn mower.
You get something like a 14, 16 inch lawnmower you will be walking yourself to death, it adds up, the missing width.
Interestingly with Kobalt, Lowe's never has a replacement blade and they give you no help, it took me a year and a half of searching to find out that Greenworks makes it.
They have two 20-in blades one is non-painted it won't work, it's the painted green one in their brand.
With electric lawn mowers you just can't go buy a generic blade they're typically shape-coded.
Example our blade has two reversed hearts left and right of the mounting point. Not only do you have to match the length you got to match these lineup points shapes, they help the blade to lock in on the hub.
I bought this mower about 4 years ago on an end of season clearance for about this price and have been fairly happy. The battery died last year with about 3 months warranty left. Hart OK'd the warranty but never sent it. Multiple attempts to contact them went nowhere. I finally found another on closeout for 100 bucks. Almost 3 years on a battery with weekly use isn't bad I guess. But the customer service left a bad taste. The mower is good. The company, not so much.
They sent me a replacement on a bad battery about a month ago.
I have had an Anthbot M9 robotic mower since May, and it has really helped me keep the grass short. This mower would have been perfect for fall leaf cleanup. Will keep my eyes out for another good deal. OOS in all stores near me.
They sent me a replacement on a bad battery about a month ago.
Not sure what happened to me. They ok"d the warranty and said they would ship it. That was the last I heard. I had a spare battery I used and found a 4 amp on clearance fairly cheap, so I could still mow. Don't know what happened. I love the tower, so it was worth the cost.
Appears to be out of stock, is there anyway to check instore options that are on sale or clearance? I think it use to be brickseek or something like that ?

The mower can deliver real runtime, mowing about 0.25 acres with a 6.0Ah battery and leaving juice remaining.
The mower can keep running for years, with reports of roughly four years of use and good performance.
HART warranty support reportedly includes sending replacement batteries after mower battery failures.
The system reportedly supports an adapter that can let you use Ryobi batteries with this mower setup.
The battery availability risk can increase because Hart is no longer active, which may affect aftermarket battery access.
The mower can struggle in thicker or higher-density grass, slowing the motor and potentially getting stuck if mowing continues.
Warranty handling can be unreliable, since one battery failure was approved but no replacement was sent despite repeated contact attempts.
Warranty shipping can stall after approval, leaving the mower without a replacement until a spare battery is used.
