You start at $214
if you wan an enclosure then
$45 for the kit, plus about $25 in PLA/PETG to print the DIY parts:
$214 + $45 + 25 = $285
The Kobra Combo not only has an enclosure, it comes with a dry box, which is also it is a filament dryer.
If you want live a dry box, another $25 in filament to print it.

If you want a dryer and dry box combo, instead of printing a dry box then the SUNLU 4 spool dryer/drybox is $99, so back to $285 + 99 = $384
That said, if you want a great entry printer there's nothing wrong with the AD5X. . If you don't want multi color, the AD5M is just fine for $175 ish. (AliExpress when on sale)
Like somebody mentioned previously, I did the error that the seller would not ship to my address. I tried the website by itself and through the app as well same error.
I ended up doing buy it now instead of heading to the court and it worked.

For those who are familiar with both Flashforge and Bambu, is it easy to leverage Bambu Labs users' designs and ecosystem with this printer? Are 3D printer designs/files interchangeable across printer brands and which brand you buy is a moot point in terms of design compatibility?
Yes bambu ecosystem is the best out there, but other printers aren't left out and it's usually just an extra step or two to do the same things.
For free models to print there are tons of websites/apps but many end up just being duplicated everywhere anyway. I end up using makerworld.com 95% of the time as it's clean and well built, is better than others at keeping the absolute trash stuff out and there are millions of great models freely available. It's Bambus site so it's really nice when your find a model you want to print you just hit the "open in bamboo studio" (the slicer software) and it's mostly ready to go. For non-bambu printers you instead have to use the pulldown and select to download the stl. That's it. Then for those printers you just open whatever slicer that's used and open the stl, check the settings and print.
I love my bambu X1C but I also love my flashforge ad5x lol... And my elegoo CC1. For the most part they all print very similar quality prints and mostly about the same speed... Actually the "budget machines" often print faster than my X1C lol.
The ad5x is an insane deal at just over $200 for what you do get and it's low enough that if it turns out a hobby you'll likely not enjoy then not a huge bust. And if you do like it, budget dependant, you'll probably want to get more π

3D printer designs are universally interchangeable across printer brands, meaning you can absolutely use models created by Bambu Lab users on your Flashforge Adventurer 5M (AD5X). Buyer's remorse is completely natural given Bambu Lab's massive marketing and community footprint, but the Flashforge AD5X is an incredibly capable, high-speed machine that matches or beats Bambu's entry-level speeds. You do not need to buy a Bambu printer just to access their ecosystem.
