If you do this, be aware that a 7-quart dutch oven weighs about 17 pounds and takes up about a cubic foot of space. Not great for those lacking cupboard or counter space Big Grin

Several other colors are on sale for $39 from the same manufacturer with no code necessary.

No. The worry about lead in no-name cast iron is overblown, and I'm not sure of a single bit of research that has shown lead in modern-day cooking pieces. Even then you have a protective enameled coating that protects your food from any trace amounts that might show up.

This 7 quart enameled cast iron Dutch oven stands out as a budget way to try bread baking, sourdough, stews, and other oven or grill cooking. The size leaves room for steam, which helps crust, and it can handle smaller loaves too. It is also described as heavy and practical, with strong heat retention and even heat distribution. The main drawbacks are the weight, about 17 pounds, and the bulk for limited storage or smaller households. The promo code has also been reported as not working, though some colors are listed at the sale price without it.

  • People cooking for one or two, because the 7-quart size is big and heavy for smaller households.

  • People expecting a lightweight everyday pot, because this Dutch oven is notably heavy.

  • Buyers who want a low-maintenance enamel surface, because generic enameled cast iron can bubble and eventually flake.

    Deal-R-DashbaowulfMrRuffles

  • Shoppers with limited cupboard or counter space, because the pot weighs about 17 pounds and takes up roughly a cubic foot.

Perfect if you've thought about Le Crueset but want to try an enameled cast iron dutch oven before dropping some real coin.

I had that once. I think it was somewhere in Europe. Tastes like chicken. Highly recommended!

What sort of thing would you use this for?
I do pot roast with vegetables most commonly but all kinds of stuff.

No, as iron costs less than lead, there's no reason to substitute lead for iron.

My oven doesn't work. Could I make meatloaf in this?
If you had a cast iron one without enamel, you could perhaps place it in a fireplace and do that.

Usually an easy fix for someone handy. Gas stove 99% the igniter and an electric is probably a heating element, both of which can be found on dozens of websites and probably Amazon as well. People frequently give away working appliances on Facebook marketplace.
