■ STORY
Mako, the lifeblood of the planet, is also a highly valuable energy source. The Shinra Electric Power Company exploits this essence, draining and refining it to fuel their reactors, and in doing so, has all but seized control of the world. But resistance rises. A ragtag group of idealists, known as Avalanche, is determined to protect the planet. In the city of Midgar, Cloud Strife, ex-SOLDIER turned mercenary, joins Avalanche on their mission to blow up Reactor 1. As the echo of the blast ripples through Sector 8, the city is set ablaze. In the flames, a fallen nemesis from Cloud's past appears, challenging his memories and his identity. Once more begins a story that will shape the destiny of the entire world. *This game is a partial remake of FINAL FANTASY VII, first released in 1997. It is the first title in a multi-part series based on the original game. It reimagines the Midgar portion of the story with expanded scenes, new characters, and additional narrative layers.

Figured this was worth posting before bed. The lowest historical price for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Xbox is $13.99.

I'm sorry ya'll - there's like 6 versions of FFVII so I'm relying on the community's knowledge - for this instance: does the story change? (Aside from the additional Yuffie story) Is gameplay the same as the PS version from 97? Reading the description is confusing (to me, a simple plebe).

If you're confused about versions popping up in your search it might be related to the older game. Remember this remake is based on an older title. The original Final Fantasy VII launched on the PlayStation on January 31, 1997 in Japan. It was later released in North America on September 7, 1997, and in PAL territories on November 17, 1997. I think there's even a pixel edition of the original game. The Remake editions of the game will always have "Remake" in the title. Except for when you get to the sequel those are called Rebirth and Revelation. So part 1 of the modern version is Remake. Part 2 of the modern version - Rebirth. Part 3 of the modern version - Revelation. Hopefully that clears things up I know it gets confusing having too many versions. The Intergrade at the end just means it has bonus content included in part 1 of the game.

They broke FFVII into 3 parts for remake and expansion. This is the first part. FFVII Rebirth is the second part. 3rd part isn't released yet.

This is an absolute BANGER right here. It's the INTERGRADE version that has the DLC stuff, it's only 14$, and it's a PLAY ANYWHERE title which means you get the PC Version as well that you can play on XBOX APP for windows (not a steam code). don't miss it at this price, it's an absolutely incredible game.

Are the Digital Deluxe edition items crucial for gameplay or is it an extra seven bucks to look at stills of Tifa on my TV screen?

Typically I just buy the base game since most games allow you to upgrade later. If it's a game I'm completely uncertain on the way I deal with it is by looking at youtube videos on the differences or to see items the deluxe editions have. I've already played FF7R and beaten the game before I even knew about Intergrade. Now that I have my own system I plan on buying it again to experience the extra DLC.

The story is changed pretty significantly. The gameplay is not at all the same as the original PS1 version.

The "remake" is also split over three games ("Remake," "Rebirth," and "Revelation," the last one not out yet). Gameplay is more like MMORPG combat, like FFXV and FFXVI.

The story is sort of "copy my homework but make it different" for the first game (Rebirth), which loosely adapts the first part of the OG game (up to leaving Midgar) and then pretty much diverges from the original game from Rebirth onward (presumably).

IMO, it's a low effort fanservice project from a studio that has cratered from its glory days in the 90s. We are well into the desolate 2300 A.D. era of Square's timeline, and their games at this point have all the depth of a shitty jet bike mini-game.

Well, you kind of nailed how I was feeling about Remake. I'm mid-way through my first play-through and there is really nothing drawing me back to the game other than the idea of completing it. Really don't think I'll even bother with Rebirth.
