The Raspberry Pi 400 is a Pi 4 in a keyboard shell that shines for low power tinkering, homelab services, and lightweight Linux tasks. It works well for ad blocking, DNS, dashboards, remote monitoring, basic browsing, retro gaming, and other always on projects, with wide software support and a handy GPIO header. The integrated keyboard is neat for teaching or casual projects, though it is not ideal for everyone. The 4GB RAM and modest CPU limit heavier desktop, media, and emulation use, and it still needs a solid 5V 3A power supply.

That's what happens when you're inundated with "it was much cheaper back then!" Yeah, of course it was. What about the here-and-now?
It's not like it's going to stay at the same price forever.

Where did you hear that? It's the same components re-arranged a bit on a new board.

It is a bit more powerful than rpi4 to my knowledge.
I think that was by the design of the pi since the layout was different in a kllarger or longer house it kept a bit cooler.

I guess the integrated keyboard is kinda neat, but also gimmicky. I used to use several SBCs/rpis for homelab type stuff but the market fell off hard. Now you are much better served with something like a used SFF computer from ebay. For example at this price point something like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/358710646877 is going to BTFO the rpi while still being very low power
Interesting, but that $80 price ($25 shipping for me) includes no SSD or power supply. For those considering, that would be another $20 to $30 for a low end SSD, and $15 to $20 for the power supply putting the final price tag in the $115 to $130 range.

If only there was some sort of technology to remove soldered components
Not worth it, lol. It's BGA mounted with 200 solder joints. There's also the challenge of finding a compatible and working 8GB RAM chip to do the swap with.

Leave it in the box for 20 years and e-bay it.. Actually $100 is kind of the normal price, but yea.. Who would buy a $100 pi,.. except now days.. everything is twice as expensive as it should be. This is a OLD pi. Like 5 or 6 years old. Then again it is a "known" machine with quite wide support. I am a tinkerer fo I have a few things in the junk drawer and the pi3 just recently got a new fan.. I have the pi4 as well in a Argon 1 case that also just needed a new fan. Arg.. These are always nickle and dime'n me. adapter here, powwer supplly or hat or ..... It is realy like a piece of lego, or a erector set to the modern day nerd. No you dont need one, but it is a good price on a pi 4 (crazy) thes days and getting the keyboard puts it in a why not if you are at all interested in "playing" or tinkering. It is NOT a "home" computer, but can run linux at what 3 or 4 watts, so there is that..I ran a simple plex server on the pi3 that ran for a year or so. Got a pi4, and used it to fool around with OMV.. I got casa os to run on it, and from there I ran my plex server too.. both my pi's are 4gb boards.I have NOT seen a reason (since the man maid respritory virus was leaked) of late to get a pi5. Price is too high., then again I dont have a pi5 yet so there might be something I am missing.. I kind of have just gone minipc since there are soooo many laptops with more ram and storage on fleabay. What laptop in the last 5 years does not come with a hdmi? My point as pi as a thing has more compition these days too.. google "sbc" and you will find a lot of linux small board computers.
A bigmac combo is 12-13 bucks, and Dunkin donuts like 3 bucks or more for coffee, for price perspective

I use it to host hermes and openclaw. Since it only has 4gigs of ram and a weak processor, it makes API calls to LLMs to do most of the heavy computing. It works really well and runs 24/7. Also this model is just a pi4 stuffed into a keyboard. It's not faster it's the same pi4 in a different form factor. I never actually use a keyboard with these because raspberry pi makes it so easy to use these headless.
It runs at a higher clock speed. Slightly higher. And has a bigger heat sink for passive cooling. It's good for some light tasks, but the keyboard form factor isn't for everyone
