If Motorola's last update is around early 2027, it's not a good long-term choice for me. That said, the free year of talk, text, and data could make the deal worthwhile for some people.

Couple of questions does it unlocked at the end of the one year activation? How often do you have to top off the phone if you go with them after 1 year? Looking for something just as a cheap backup. I don't need something that carries over the minutes but I have to keep adding $$ to it every month, simply because I barely use it.

yes but other poster said the specs of the OP phone look like the 2025 specs even though it's advertised as 2024.
Tracfone website shows them both differently as separate prices. I think it's just an incorrect walmart description and I expect to receive 2024.

entire year, best to use on wifi for data & calling. Good phone to replace a landline you may be paying for. that's exactly what I did a 3 years ago when got my first tracfone on one of these deals.

Please clarify which device you are trying to unlock?

Either way, I believe a phone has to be on active Tracfone service for one year for it to unlock. Can't stick this one in a drawer til 2027 and think it will unlock next summer.
So, what if they send 1 text every month, is that active enough?

Why do specs on these show everything except the most important spec, RAM?

Edit: shows "Speedy 5G Performance
MediaTek Dimensity 7020 5G processor with 8GB RAM (up to 16GB)"

So, does it have RAM boost that can get ot to 16GB, or is there different models with different amounts,, maybe? When they're not clear,, it's usually some funny math going on.

Edit 2: how is this phone compared to the Moto g stylus 5g? I've been satisfied with those Motorola phones, but the only other ones I've used are the old Motorola razr, back when Windows phones existed, & i wasn't too impressed.

Can I buy this now, wait 11 months and activate and port in a number from xfinity expiring free line? I don't expect the phone to be unlocked until another year after that point but just want to keep the phone number alive as cheap as possible while still getting txt/call for it

Oh no, not per month. That's all you get for the entire year. Four minutes of talk time per day. Speak fast...!

If you're talking about the xfinity number. Just port it to a low cost plan at USmobile (or similar) until the walmart phone unlocks. Then your options are open.

I have the both phones, the 2025 Stylus phones is much better, better screen and cameras compared to the 2024 Power
the Moto G Power 2024 has awful gps, I don't know if it's only my device but it's really inaccurate.

2025 version shows for $80

That's not the 2025 version of this Moto G Power 2024. That's the Moto G 5G 2025. Very different phone. Only 4GB RAM on that phone.

ahh, unique situation, I'd try contacting them on their social media platform like Facebook, might get better results. But if you have it unlocked and phone died during the warranty period, you should get credit for the time it was active to be unlocked.
I already tried contacting customer support multiple times, but it was no use. I even filed an FCC complaint, and I'm still not getting a positive response.
They're saying that since my replacement phone was activated in 2026, it has to follow the new 2026 unlock policy. But that doesn't make sense because I bought my original phone in March 2025, before the new policy even existed. I only got the replacement in February 2026 because I filed a warranty claim after my original phone had a hardware issue.
My original phone was unlocked within two months, and I used it overseas without any problems. Now they're treating the warranty replacement like it's a brand-new purchase instead of a replacement for the phone I originally bought. I don't think it's fair to apply a new policy to a device that was replaced under warranty.
