Listen, im all for saving money but buying something like this from a brand you have never heard of, with limited reviews, and lots of mixed reviews online is not the move.

what's a good brand then because kiddie and first alert both have reviews of random false alarms

I manage rental properties in California and when the law passed that all smoke detectors need to be the ones with sealed non replaceable batteries that "last 10 years" I installed ones similar to this in 13 rental units. This was January 2025 and day before yesterday I got the first call that one smoke detector is beeping to indicate low battery. the only reason the tenant called was because the house has extra high ceilings and there is no ladder at the house. meaning many more may have failed and tenant just didn't complain. So they last at minimum about 1.5 years. The law required on average 3 or 4 detectors per property so I installed about 45 detectors and one battery failed but I anticipate the rest to fail soon.....realistically non will last 10 years no matter the brand but I would hope name brands last 5 years maybe hopefully
