OK, here is how Spectrum deals work:
You MUST have Spectrum Internet service to do these deals, and there is no way around it.
You choose Pay in Full and not Finance over 36 months. You will get charged the full amount and taxes.
Right now, you can only trade-in via mail. There are pros and cons to this, mostly cons now. You used to be able to only do the free storage upgrade via mail-in, but that is no longer an option. There have been reports of people having issues sending trade-in devices via mail, as a separate company (Assurant) processes the trades. In-store trade-ins will not occur until the phone is released, so on the 7th or 8th. If you trade in via store, the discount comes off right then and there. They will inspect your phone and run it through a series of tests.
The best deals for trade insurance on spectrum phones have you treating in a crappy $30 Walmart phone and not one that actually has value. If you have a newer phone like a Z Fold 7 or S26 line, it is worth it to sell locally as opposed to trading that in. Trade in phones DO NOT need to be unlocked.
You need service for 60 days before requesting an unlock, which you can do via chat. The phone will still have Spectrum bloatware and a splash screen on it, which you can probably remove if you are tech savvy and want to get into flashing stock firmware using something like Odin and following steps on XDA.
If you do trade-in via mail, your refund takes a but and will go back as account credit. You will not get refunded taxes. You can request via chat that the account credit go back on a credit card (any one you have on file).
You can generally do multiple upgrades on the same line, but when it comes time to unlock, you may have issues getting a phone unlocked that was not active for 120 days (if you upgraded over that device).
