This refurbished Galaxy S22+ is a capable older Android phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, solid everyday performance, and enough battery for nearly a full day in some cases. The comments also point to decent long term reliability, with some units still working well after years of use. The main concerns are battery wear, overheating, and occasional network or reboot issues, plus the phone is nearing the end of Samsung security support in February 2027. Cosmetic scuffs on the body have also shown up on refurb units, so it feels best suited to buyers who can live with age and tradeoffs.

  • Light phone users who want a capable Android for everyday apps, because the S22+ can still run fine and some units hold nearly a full day of battery life.

  • People who need a compact unlocked phone for basic use, because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is still capable for most tasks.

  • Buyers comfortable with a used-looking refurb, because the body can show corner scuffs while the screen stays scratch-free and the phone still works fine.

I never get Samsung phones any more. They knowingly deny any well known issues like this "boot loop" issue. My fold 4 was suffering from wide spread hinge problem and they refused to fix it for free. I never got anything Samsung beyond that.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 hinge problem is primarily a design defect caused by the internal sweeper brushes. Over time, the adhesive holding these protective bristles in place degrades. The loose glue and fraying bristles then bunch up inside the mechanical gears, preventing the phone from opening flat (often stopping at 150 to 170 degrees). If forced open, this trapped debris can press against the flexible internal OLED panel, causing pixel bleeding, lines, or total screen failure. For a visual breakdown of how this internal brush debris blocks the hinge mechanism, watch this user demonstration:

That's why grammar and reading comprehension actually mean something when your only form of communication is text. I read their statement as them calling out all refurbished phones on eBay because they use replacement screens from a bad 3rd party, not that those parties are the only ones selling fakes. Refurbished and recertified are NOT the same thing. BB also sells products that are refurbished by third parties, as do a lot of other retailers who can source their products from a supplier or contractor. Only "recertified" and proprietary phrases like "Geek Squad Certified Refurbished" should carry connotations of quality repair work. Remain skeptical about all devices that are simply "refurbished" independent of seller. But someone else said they "almost" get a full day of battery out of theirs, and that makes it a pass for me based on the phone model itself. My Pixel Fold battery lasts ~3 days with moderate use. I just need a second phone to use for corporate authorization so I can put a custom OS on my Google phone.
Often replacement screens are not made with durable glass such as gorilla glass but a cheaper variety.

I'm assuming this would be good for emulation?
I'm not a fan of Samsung phones so I needed to look up the CPU to get an idea of how old it is. This has the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 which should be highly capable for most stuff. A quick YouTube search looks like it can do up to ps2. My main complaint would be the lack of expandable storage. I guess you would need to be picky about what you put on it. I finally upgraded from my LG V60 to a OnePlus 15. I do miss the V60 headphone jack and micro SD expansion. Honestly the LG V60's Snapdragon 865 worked fine for most stuff. I'm sure the S22+ Snapdragon 8 gen 1 will be fine.

edit, not that you asked; my OnePlus 15 doesn't have expandable memory either. The industry is only doing that for midrange phones for whatever reason. The best mid range CPU I know of is the Snapdragon 7+ gen 3, and from poking around it appears to perform better than the 8 gen 1. Its also better than the newer 7 gen 4, but they haven't released a 7+ gen 4. The devil is in the details. I think if it has an S trailing the 7 then it is supposed to be efficient, 7s gen 3. If it has nothing then it's the main offering, 7 gen 3. If it has a plus then it is a bit souped up, 7+ gen 3.

I wouldn't take the risk with the S22 variant. There is a lawsuit right now due to a boot looping and eventual death of the phone with the chips unsoldering themselves. I had one with the issue. If you search online, you can see how common it is with the S22 models. It seems like it is a matter of time with the device on when it'll happen to the phone.
S20-S22 has the issue. I think there is a class action for all three models, ranging from updates breaking the phones all the way to system glitch/ hardware failure.

I ordered one of these recently, the body was a little scuffed up on the corners but no scratches on the screen and worked fine.
What Android version / UI version was installed. I want one with an unlocked bootloader so I need UI7 and not 8

I have s22. It is kind of slow and battery life isn't good. It's not because bad battery. It's the soc not being efficient.
