You're comparing apple and oranges. Greenworks is NOT on the same level as Ego. You get what you pay for. Just because you are happy doesn't mean it's a better product.
I'm not saying they're apples to apples and everybody needs to make their own decisions wether they need to drive a porsche or a toyota. All I'm saying is that there are mowers out there for half the price that are pretty good, especially when someone is coming from a non-propelled gas mower. YMMV
This EGO 21 inch mower stands out for strong cut quality, solid reliability, and especially good value for anyone already in the EGO battery ecosystem. The bundle is attractive because it includes two batteries and a rapid charger, and the charger is described as fast enough to keep one battery cycling while the other is in use. The main drawback is runtime, since the included 4.0Ah batteries are considered small for larger lawns and are better suited to smaller yards or about half an acre with careful pacing. A recent recall was also linked, so it is worth checking before buying.
Homeowners with a small suburban lawn, because the included 4.0Ah batteries can cover modest yards and the rapid charger helps swap power mid-job.
Existing EGO tool owners, because the mower and fast charger fit the same battery ecosystem and the brand's yard tools have worked well for their needs.
Shoppers expecting long runtime from the included batteries, because the 4.0Ah packs are described as small and may need swapping after about 15 to 20 minutes.
It can handle a postage-stamp yard, and it is described as workable for typical small lots. For larger lawns, the 4.0Ah batteries may be too small and may require swapping mid-job.
The choice is mainly about ecosystem compatibility: if your trimmer and blower are Greenworks, a Greenworks mower makes more sense; if you are already on EGO batteries, this EGO mower fits better. The EGO is also described as having a dual-blade cut that can be better than some Greenworks models.
A new 4.0Ah battery is expected to run about 15-20 minutes, or roughly 30-40 minutes total with both charged. Runtime drops with thicker grass and heavier self-propel use, so swapping batteries during the cut is often needed.
Yes if you already use EGO tools: the bundle is described as effectively the price of two 4.0Ah batteries while also including the mower and a rapid charger. The charger is called fast, and the batteries alone are said to be worth over $100 each.
Have this. Great deck..but.. 4.0 battery with it is insufficient to cut anything but a postage stamp sized yard.. Enjoy
it does come with 2? I have like 2k sqrf but mine came with a 7.5 early gen battery in 2021. I can mow my yard and then some or finish up with the blower. it does run out trying to get the common area which is another 2k. a 4 amp would probably work for me, but there are 2. I paid 499 for non-select cut and 7.5 in 2021 money, so I'd say good deal if you're cutting less than 5k sqrf
edit, the rapid charger will finish by the time you run the other 4 amp out so is it enough if you just go back and forth between the 2 batteries?
Good deal, i use it all the time and it never cuts out. I've had 2 ryobi mowers that stopped working and had to be taken back to home depot in less than a month each. 2 batteries is also better than usual.
The 4.0 Ah batteries are worth over $100 a piece. (They seem to sell for around $125 on eBay from sellers who part out bundles like this.)
Depending on how thick the grass is and how much self-propel is used, one might expect about 15-20 minutes runtime per brand new battery, so with both charged one might expect a total of 30-40 minutes, with a battery swap at 15-20 minutes. But the batteries do lose capacity over time. Like any rechargeable battery, the more use they get, the faster they "age".
21 inch mower cuts 0.5 acres in about one hour assuming 3mph pace. So probably would need to use one battery up, then put it on the charger while mowing with the second battery, and hopefully get enough charging on battery #1 to finish up after battery #2 runs low. pushing vs self propel extends run time as well.
downside to this is that you end up charging battery #1 when it is still likely very warm. best practice for maximizing battery longevity is letting the battery cool before charging.

I think it's a good deal. 4amp battery is a bit small. Would be better if one was a 5. But you're getting 8 total. It's a really good maintenance free solid mower.
kobalt is rarely 'better' than anything. it's not garbage, but I have never seen a review with kobalt on top. ego is the best for electric lawn stuff. vs gas? yea ain't gonna win that one, but battery powered. I have kobalt stuff I had some good deals on, but it's like buying temu ryobi sometimes.
I'm sure this is great, but this wouldn't be slickdeals if you couldn't be happy with the greenworks:https://slickdeals.net/f/19770639I have it and am super happy with it

Its less of the brand, and more of the ecosystem. If you are already mowing your lawn, you probably already have a string trimmer and leaf blower. If they are greenworks, then you should prob get a greenworks mower. But if they are ego, you should be getting this ego mower.

Acting like EGO is some great masterpiece makes me laugh. You probably use Ryobi tools too and think they beat Milwaukee.

Exactly this. If you are already in the ecosystem and need a mower, this is a no brainier. For the price of two 4.0 ah batteries, they are throwing in a mower and fast charger.
I'm already deep into the Ego ecosystem with a trimmer, leaf blower and chainsaw, all came with batteries (I have 4 in all, with 2 standard chargers). I have no complaints with the Ego equipment I own, they've worked great for my needs.
So I'm very, very tempted by this offer as I'm going to need a mower sooner than later.

Buyers who want a cleaner cut than single-blade mowers, because the dual-blade deck is described as cutting better.

Owners of larger lawns, because the included 4.0Ah batteries can run out before finishing and may only cover a postage-stamp-sized yard.
Shoppers expecting long runtime from the included batteries, because the 4.0Ah packs are described as small and may need swapping after about 15 to 20 minutes.
Buyers worried about product reliability, because a recall was mentioned and battery failures have required warranty replacement.
