Easy buy at this price! I got a new DCST970 in a kit I've been trying to sell to get one of these, this is a much better model IMO. Between my 20v and the new 60v I have to sell this should be a free upgrade. No motor in the head + attachment capable (will be getting the brush cutting head). This is about as good as it gets for a price on this, even the HD hack price (bringing the BOGO battery back) put it at the same.

This model is such an upgrade over the 20v or any model that stores the motor in the head.
Things I've noticed is it's heavy, my arms were worn out and weakened after 20-30 mins of trimming. Definitely get some ergonomics like better handle or a harness to transfer the weight to your shoulders.
Outside of that, this thing is great.
Much happier and less overheating

Has anyone used an edger attachment with this? I'd like to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

Hopefully the ergonomics are pretty solid on this. My biggest issue with the 20v I have is it is the most uncomfortable POS to use 😂 Power on it honestly isn't bad, but I have to hold my arms so low (I'm 5'9") to have the head level with the ground, and need a 6ah battery in it to somewhat balance it out from being super nose heavy. The DCST970 I have feels better than the 20v but I haven't used it (keeping it unused to sell), this 972 looks much better with the rear motor. Having the weight closer to you vs at the end of a pole hanging out is always better!

Unfortunately mine is on its way to the repair depot. When it worked it's a beast. Starting cutting out after 2 months of home owner use. Hopefully just got a bad one. On the bright side dewalt was incredibly responsive had the UPS label next day after filing the claim.

I got one from the previous woot offer. Lowe's had the Toro hedge trimmer and pole saw attachment on sale last weekend. Couldn't pass them up at $35 each.

I got this trimmer in 2023 and paid around 300 for the trimmer / battery combo. It's an awesome trimmer. I have a pretty big backyard and front yard (probably around 1500 sq feet of lawn). I do the edges with this and seem to run out of battery 3/4ths through. I run it on high. The pole saw attachment is a lifesaver. I can't really figure out how to use the edger effectively. All in all, It's really nice.

The trimmer head is kinda garbage though. I got the "Echo Speed Feed 400" and use a 0.095-Inch line instead. Line lasts longer and cuts better and is easier to feed in and tap to release more line. Make sure you read the instructions on the line though. I didn't soak my line in water the first install and it didn't last very long.
