Side note: I worked at a Volvo for about 2 years - we turned down polestar service, or lease returns. Polestar like fiskar is a long term risk

It's a shame, they drive really nice. I had one as a rental in the UK for about three weeks a while back. If I had a genuine use case a lease might be a cool option if the residual didn't tank the deal. Like others have said, leasing has its place and there are good deals to be had if you're not planning on driving the same car forever.

Residual shouldn't matter, since buying the car at the end would be a bad move anyways. The depreciation on a lease or purchase is going to be awful now.

All the single motor vehicle seems to be gone. At 44K for the dual motor, that is still quite pricey. The dual needs to be closer to $30K out the door price especially if they are exiting the market.

This is nothing like fisker, btw 2023 fisker models still sell for mid 20s on auction sites. PArts will be fine as they will have them in Canada. As a new cash purchase for what you get, it's a good deal as evidence they are selling fast mostly cash. Maintenance on EVs is next to nothing. If it has major issues, just lemon law the thing

You need to call and ask your local Volvo Dealership about it, I heard YMMV about it, some Volvo dealerships said they won't service it at all, and some promised they will keep servicing it.

You'd have to be an utter moron to purchase a Polestar right now. If you lease any parts or scarcity issues become their problem. And the intrinsic value is going to tank faster than any other car, so you're better off prepaying the depreciation on a lease.

The closest is the Kia EV3, which is slated to arrive in late 2026 with a starting sticker of $35,000. But the base model aka Light will have a range of 220, making it more of a city car than a road trip car. The EV3 replaces Kia Niro EV. And like the car it replaces, the EV3 will not have the super fast charging of the EV6 and EV9.

If you're open to buying used, off lease EV6s sell for $25,000 to $35,000. Expect a higher premium on the top GT trim, especially because that model was cancelled thanks to tariffs.

I lease an EV6 Wind AWD. It's a fun ride.
