The inverter is normally $110, the battery normally $220, getting the 2 together for the cost of the battery is pretty slick. The 40V batteries basically never go on sale on their own, I got lucky and got some 4Ah batteries for $50/each 4 or 5 years ago and haven't seen anywhere near that pricing since.

I was thinking of joining the 40v ecosystem and I can't find any advertised ryobi 40v 6ah (authentic) battery, even on SD, for $150. Where do you see them for that cheap?

Not "new" but I've always found them to be basically new (someone returns them with a broken mower. Mower gets tossed, but the batteries are recertified and sold with warranty).

The batteries are worth 20 bucks per amp hour for 40v. The Ryobi 18v are 8 or so per amp hour

"Reconditioned" batteries? No thanks. And I'm seeing $108 + $5 shipping. The two things I absolutely don't buy refurbs of are SSD/memory and batteries. Got burned on 18V batteries from DTO before and it was a pain.

Anyway, this is the new inverter that has high wattage usb-c out and uses Gan for better efficiency.
