Lavazza Espresso Barista Gran Crema is a mass produced whole bean espresso blend that pulls well for daily espresso and pour over. The 2.2 pound bag goes a long way, with only about 25 grams needed per day and freshness dates reported as very recent. The blend is praised for tasting close to pricier beans and for working especially well as espresso, though the Arabica and Robusta mix is not for every palate. A few Costco price checks also put it lower in store, making it a practical long lasting option if the flavor profile fits.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is widely used for espresso and can taste good black, with a strong enough profile to stand up better than many American-style coffees. It is also described as one of the better mass-produced espresso beans, though the flavor is distinct and not as smooth as Cuban-style espresso.

  • Not always. Costco pricing mentioned in the thread ranges from about $11.99 in-store to $15, with one note saying there is also $8 off right now, so Costco can be cheaper than Amazon depending on the store and promotion.

  • No. It is an Arabica/Robusta blend, which gives it a more espresso-forward profile than a pure Arabica bag. The Robusta component is also why some prefer it for espresso while others avoid it on principle.

  • A 2.2-lb bag can last about 40 days at roughly 25 g per day for pour-over coffee. It also goes a long way because only a small amount is needed per brew.

  • The bag can arrive very fresh, with one reported manufacture date of 07/06/2026 and best-by date of 06/30/2028. That suggests a long shelf life and recent packaging.

There was a post this morning, I think it's $11.99 in store at Costco.
I just picked up 2 bags at my local Costco for $11.99. This is a limited discount so you need to go soon to take advantage of the sale.

I picked up a box of Lavazza expresso k-cups at Costco to try. They are nowhere close to tasting like a cup from an expresso machine, even at the 6 oz setting. Zero foam and meh as regular coffee. A total disappointment.

I prefer this to the 100% arabica version that's currently $11.99 in warehouse at Costco. Robusta is gross on its own but in a blend like this, it makes a great espresso.

The Costco in Miami, Sells a 2 pound Cuban coffee espresso whole bean brand called Mayorga its like mustard yellow color bag. Costs $18.49 goes on sale often for $12-14. I have been using it for several years now. Its great and taste really good, its on par with brands like Bustelo and Pilon which if you have had Cuban Espresso you know the difference between that and Lavazza which is more like Italian roast espresso which tends to have a distinct taste and is not as smooth and strong as Cuban roast coffee. its more expensive on costco.com than in the warehouse. https://www.costco.com/p/-/mayorg.../100523070
