One big disadvantage of cheap 4k IPS is that they don't come with DP 2.1 ports, and DSC with DP 1.4 takes up 2 GPU lanes, so running more than 2 monitors at full 4k/10bit/144Hz+ is difficult/impossible unless GPU comes with more than 1 HDMI port.
Community Reviews
This 27 inch 4K IPS Predator stands out as a low priced fast refresh monitor for gaming and everyday use, with 160Hz and a dual mode 1080p 320Hz option. The price is framed as about as cheap as 4K IPS gets, and Costco protection adds some peace of mind. Acer is also described as looking better than some ViewSonic and MSI displays. The main drawbacks are the stand, no USB C, and no DisplayPort 2.1, which can limit full 4K high refresh setups across multiple monitors. It fits best as a compact 4K screen when desk space and port needs are simple.
Common Questions (3)
It has no USB-C and no DP 2.1. The display connection is DP 1.4 with DSC, which can make running more than two 4K/10-bit/high-refresh monitors from one GPU difficult.
At $199.99, it is about as cheap as 4K IPS gets and is considered a strong value for a single 4K gaming monitor. Similar monitors are often around $249 as refurbs, and Costco adds better protection.
For some setups, 27-inch 4K is the sweet spot, especially if you want a sharp desktop and high refresh rate in a compact size. Others prefer 32-inch or larger for 4K, so the ideal size depends on viewing distance and personal preference.

My next monitor will definitely be OLED. Dark blacks are a big deal for me.!
I see an upgrade in the future. I thinking OLED once prices drop further. I would love an ultrawide but I love having 3 separate monitors.
And I also did a review for a budget 4K dual-mode monitor, the MSI MAG 275UPD around 7 months ago: https://youtu.be/pshy3fHM7wI
As of 07/27 5pm, they restocked it.
i know most prefer ips but with better black and contrast levels I would almost think 34" curved va panel performs better and the screen tearing wouldn't be as bad with the higher refresh rates... am i wrong?

If you want 4K, do not get anything smaller than 32"
Recently switched to triple monitors and it's quite nice.
