This 27 inch 4K IPS Predator stands out as a low priced fast refresh monitor for gaming and everyday use, with 160Hz and a dual mode 1080p 320Hz option. The price is framed as about as cheap as 4K IPS gets, and Costco protection adds some peace of mind. Acer is also described as looking better than some ViewSonic and MSI displays. The main drawbacks are the stand, no USB C, and no DisplayPort 2.1, which can limit full 4K high refresh setups across multiple monitors. It fits best as a compact 4K screen when desk space and port needs are simple.

I like mostly everything a/b this monitor except the stand... It reminds me of bird feet 😂
Ditch the stand and get a wall mount if that bothers you. Saves desk space too.

Which viewsonic did you have?

My next monitor will definitely be OLED. Dark blacks are a big deal for me.!
It was the ViewSonic XG2401 24 Inch 1080p 1ms 144 Hz. And I am currently using an MSI 27" G274QPF 1440p IPS and Acer Nitro VG240Y Pbiip 23.8 Inches 1080p IPS.

I've got 3 x 27". ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD 27 Inch Frameless WQHD 1440p 144Hz 1ms IPS Gaming Monitors. They're decent monitors. Blacks could be improved upon and the left monitor has had panel problems since year 3 of owning.

I see an upgrade in the future. I thinking OLED once prices drop further. I would love an ultrawide but I love having 3 separate monitors.

It's about as cheap as 4K IPS gets. This monitor class is the sweet spot for me, 4k fast refresh at great prices (and without mini-LED, which I avoid since I prefer low minimum brightness). I don't have all the brands accurately mapped out for quality but I think Acer is towards the bottom, perhaps worse than Chinese brands (I've purchased KTC monitors with no issues, and I'm pretty sure all these cheap fast-IPS monitors have basically the same Chinese panels). Since this is from Costco you get pretty good protection though. My next step up would be the latest RGB-stripe OLED but considering the ~5x price difference and same exact refresh rate I just can't justify it (I know there are other advantages but still...)One big disadvantage of cheap 4k IPS is that they don't come with DP 2.1 ports, and DSC with DP 1.4 takes up 2 GPU lanes, so running more than 2 monitors at full 4k/10bit/144Hz+ is difficult/impossible unless GPU comes with more than 1 HDMI port.
I agree w/ most of your assessment. However, I would consider Acer a step up above those monitors by Chinese brands such as KTC based on my experience using them compared to a couple Acer monitors that I currently own. I actually did a review for the KTC H27D9 27" monitor recently on YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/3Y92Y7VU914
And I also did a review for a budget 4K dual-mode monitor, the MSI MAG 275UPD around 7 months ago: https://youtu.be/pshy3fHM7wI

this one or the 34" Curved 1440p 240Hz VA panel they have listed for $249...?

i know most prefer ips but with better black and contrast levels I would almost think 34" curved va panel performs better and the screen tearing wouldn't be as bad with the higher refresh rates... am i wrong?

Do not do it. 4K at 27" is NOT good. 3x 27" 1440p resolution is the sweet spot.

If you want 4K, do not get anything smaller than 32"
Do ^^this only if you like looking at pixels.

Gamers just need one monitor, unlike coder. why "2 monitors at full 4k/10bit/144Hz+"?
Poor gamers***

Recently switched to triple monitors and it's quite nice.
