This bundle is mainly a cheap way to get an iPhone 12 with a year of unlimited talk and text and 12GB of data to use over the full year. The phone is brand new in the box, and the total still looks attractive versus buying a used iPhone 12 outright. The main catches are the 64GB fixed storage, the older 2020 hardware, and the fact that the phone stays locked until after 12 full months of active paid service. TracFone also can deactivate dormant lines, so it works best as a backup or light-use phone.

  • The included 365-day package provides unlimited talk and text while the 12GB data allotment covers the full year.

  • The deal can result in a straightforward checkout total with only mandatory Virginia taxes and fees added.

  • The iPhone 12 units can be brand new and may still qualify for the standard Apple warranty after providing a receipt to Apple.

  • Unlock eligibility can be handled by contacting the TracFone unlock department and confirming the eligibility date for the 365-day plan.

  • TracFone can deactivate smartphones after six consecutive months without voice, text, or data usage, which can affect unlock eligibility.

  • The unlock process can require a full year of paid active service and may involve an explicit request rather than automatic unlocking.

  • The iPhone 12 storage is limited to 64GB with no microSD expansion, which can force frequent off-loading for apps and media.

  • The 12GB data allotment can be used up quickly, leaving no data for the remainder of the year.

just want to confirm tracfone does deactivate if no usage for 6 months but they do notify a warning via text. i blew through data in less than a month so technically the phone would be ineligible for unlock since the deactivation might affect the active service part of the unlocking policy.

i guess reward codes do not stack with this deal?
No. In fact the use of any promo code at all causes the phone to go to regular price. And Rewards promo coupon codes work on devices only, and the device price is free.

Plans no longer combine on TracFone they delete whatever is the previous plan or have it as your backup plan and revert to the plan that you paid for so only one plan is active at a time they do not combine but if one expires the other one continues into the end of its service date. Back in the day you used to just be able to stack cards not anymore.
Are you certain on this? when did this apply?
I have two unlimited plans activated on two phones in the end of 2024 and stacked with a few 1500 year plan afterwards, unlimited mins/text still rollover. I know they changes policy quite often but haven't tried unlimited plan after 2024.

I just activated my phone from the Motorola Walmart deal a couple of days ago and I asked the CSR to keep the phone# and balance from an existing phone and account and xfer it to the new phone, adding to the "free" minutes. She did exactly that and the account that was scheduled to expire this month now has an expiration of the same date of expiration except in 2027 and the minutes total were increased by 1500 mins.

So has anyone confirmed, is this 365day plan already good enough for unlock, or have to purchase an additional month, i.e. 13months? Doesn't want to pay extra $$ for qualify unlock only.

It looks like you are talking about two different things. You can no longer combine the plans from two active phones, which used to be a common way to maximize rewards and bank a lot of service.

You still can activate this phone with a transfer of your existing service, which will combine the data and extend the expiration date. And since this plan has unlimited talk/text, it most likely will convert a plan with a fixed talk/text to unlimited. You can do it through the self-service options in your account without having to call customer service.

If this deal were for the Iphone 13. It would be an easy buy. 128GB storage vs. Iphone 12 64GB of storage.

Its tough call: its 64Gb and smaller battery than iphone 13. It can only be really a backup or carplay phone at best. Well a new battery costs $100?

Not all Iphone 12's come with 64GB of ram. Tracfone uses bottom of the barrel handsets. The bottom of the Iphone 13 is 128GB. The iphone 12 is still a very decent phone. Iphone's take forever to become obsolete because they come with very good processors when they were originally released. I think the Iphone 15 is what people should be shopping for.

Agreed, especially when it has 1000 cycle battery and can limit charging to 80% (which my Moto G Power and Stylus already has with Battery Protect). But once you go there why not the 16e with AI and 8GB ram? You can either disable the AI to free up ram, or use the AI for carplay.

The iphone 15 has 6GB of vram and comes with USB-C. The iphone 14 has 6GB of vram. The 13 has 4GB vram as does the iphone 12.

I have an iphone 13 currently that is a less than a year old.

I agree with MtF4392. It should automatically unlock with this plan alone, and if not would be unlocked by calling the unlock dept after day 365 even if you have no more service on this device.
I don't think this phone will automatically unlock as they did in the past. The new policy says "upon request" multiple times. It's unclear whether filling out the online form will count as a request or if you will need to call on day 366: https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/
