This bundle is mainly a cheap way to get an iPhone 12 with a year of unlimited talk and text and 12GB of data to use over the full year. The phone is brand new in the box, and the total still looks attractive versus buying a used iPhone 12 outright. The main catches are the 64GB fixed storage, the older 2020 hardware, and the fact that the phone stays locked until after 12 full months of active paid service. TracFone also can deactivate dormant lines, so it works best as a backup or light-use phone.

TF is horrible. If you don't use the phone for some time (ie make calls, send texts, etc), sometimes they automatically deactivate dormant accounts.
Agree with above. It is the new norm.

I ordered on Tuesday and received it Thursday. Yes I got a UPS tracking number. Phone came brand new in the box with a Tracfone SIM card and activation instructions. I turned on the phone. Phone says battery is 100% and the SIM card is locked. I tried activating it online on Friday, but Tracfone didn't recognize the IMEI number. I then attempted to activate it with their support phone number. The AI could not activate the phone because it didn't recognize the IMEI number. Eventually I got to a live person who could not activate the phone with that IMEI number. The live support tried to activate it with the IMEI2 number (the eSIM) and couldn't do it with that either. A manager got involved couldn't resolve the problem. After one hour and 20 minutes on hold they generated a ticket and said hopefully my phone will be working in 24 to 48 hours. We will see. Hopefully other people's activations will go better.

I think the Tracfone gremlins just got ya this time. I was able to activate with a number transfer, although I had to spend about an hour and a half on chat after online activation went nowhere.

FYI, the warranty info seems to be correct this time, unlike the 12 Minis last year. So no call to Apple at least.

It's actually a pretty meager deal -- a six-year-old phone? (i'd be concerned with degradation due to warehousing) with a paltry 64gb of storage? no options to expand the storage? and at $144? Sorry, but hard disagree.

There are 2025 android phones with 128gb storage, microSD card slot, 8gb ram, (and sometimes even a stylus!)....for $40-100, it's a really hard sell with this fruity device. Sure, maybe they're "not the same". Both make phone calls just fine....!
Ya but not worrying about a phone bill for a year when you sometimes pay for gas in spare change is HUGE. I'm not saying that's me these days but Ive lived that life and I know this would be viewed as a steal

You just don't understand why its a good deal and that's okay. Some people are going to view it as an awesome one... Its not about the phone. It could be any phone as long as it works and as long as you know that for one year you're not going to be out of service at all no matter what happens at work that week.

If you're on that tight of a budget, get one of the Track Phone android deals. $40-50 gets you a handheld that's often with 8gb ram, 5g networking, and 128gb storage (plus microSD card slot)....all with one of those 1500x/365 plans. You don't need a premium device like this APPLE phone.

Why not when it comes with the unlimited talk and text? I feel like 1500 isn't as much as it sounds but then its been a bit since Ive counted minutes

Then buy an unlimited plan. Still don't need a premium device if you're pinching pennies. Or avocado toast!!!

My new iPhone and SIM card arrived together in the same package. I have a couple of questions:Should I activate the service using this new iPhone? I do not want to use the phone right now, but I do want it to be eligible for carrier unlocking in a year. How long can I wait before I am required to activate the SIM card?"

So is this a junky six year old phone or a premium device? I'm lost now.

Kinda both, oddly enough. It's a six year old junker that's far overpriced compared to newer devices. The only reason it carries that hefty price tag is the name "Apple". If someone is on a strict budget, check out alternatives -- because it's really hard to plead poverty while holding that piece of fruit. ESPECIALLY when there are plenty of more-than-adequate alternatives for a third of that cost.
