This is a budget Galaxy A37 5G deal that stands out for its midrange specs, long software support, and strong value as a backup or travel phone. The 6.7 inch AMOLED display, 5,000 mAh battery, IP68 rating, and six years of updates make it appealing, and it also gets praise for emulation and decent camera performance. The main drawbacks are the 6GB RAM, no microSD slot, and reports of noticeable One UI lag. Metro's 365 day unlock lock and frequent port in and checkout problems are the biggest caveats.
Travelers who want a backup phone for a year, because it can sit on Wi‑Fi, auto-unlock after 365 days, and gets six years of software updates.
People who want a cheap emulation handheld, because it runs older consoles well and can even handle some Switch titles.
Shoppers who need a midrange phone with decent cameras, because its photos are described as close to an S25 in good light and better than Moto cameras.
Users who want a straightforward backup daily driver, because it is described as usable with some lag and still fast enough for everyday tasks.
People who need a snappy phone for heavy multitasking, because the interface lag is noticeably worse than on comparable Motorola models.
Buyers who want to port in a Google Voice or other virtual number, because Metro can reject those transfers or leave them stuck in limbo.
Shoppers who need a phone that can be used on another carrier right away, because it stays locked for 365 days after activation.
International travelers who need roaming outside North America, because Metro appears to lack international roaming beyond Mexico and Canada.

Good question.
My way is activate T-Mobile sim first. confirm it works. Flash Xaa firmware. Keep T-Mobile sim on. Turn on wifi. Activate MetroPCS. I lost T-Mobile signal. I restart the phone T-Mobile sim signal came back. I have 6 free lines from T-Mobile so unlock or not is not important to me. Just a bonus if it gets unlocked after 1 year.
If you're not flashing you can just activate T-Mobile sim (keep sim inside), turn on wifi, activate MetroPCS. If T-Mobile signal lost, restart the phone. Toggle MetroPCS sim off. Toggle T-Mobile sim off and on. Just play with the sim setting.
As of today. My T-Mobile sim still works.
Did you activate the Metro eSim prior to putting in the Tmo sim?
I am having the same issue and as Lou said, I should have taken it easy. The Tmo sim wont work on the phone (not calls, or anything) and ony the Metro eSim is active sadly.
I need it for Tmobile so sucks for me.

Same error first time turn on phone with a T-Mobile physical SIM ""Your phone's not registered on a network, so you can only make emergency calls."

Doesn't work for A37. Throw error with T-Mobile SIM. It may be due to a different software version. What's your A37 software baseband version? Or manufacture date? Mine is baseband A376USQS3AZF1, date 08/06/2026.

You'll receive random TX/FL phone number, Account number, PIN, Zip Code. Lower rep, newer accounts send code first.
Because of the low value I won't be able to provide much "customer service". The pins expire a few days after requesting them, plan to use it before the end of this week. I'll be pasting information directly from the device, so no chance of errors. In case of the usual Metro ordering issues, I can't help with those.
Sure, it's slow compared to flagship phones that score 2-3 million or more, but that's why those phones cost hundreds of dollars and you rarely see deals on them. This should be a solid midrange phone.

Metro site errors and says "Your number transfer was unsuccessful. Please go back and check for any errors in the information entered."
The metro site also think this is a verizon number, not sure if that matters. Calling in, the metro rep said the name on my account is incorrect, even though it is correct. So I'm not sure how to resolve this issue to do this deal.
