This is a budget Galaxy A37 5G deal that stands out for its midrange specs, long software support, and strong value as a backup or travel phone. The 6.7 inch AMOLED display, 5,000 mAh battery, IP68 rating, and six years of updates make it appealing, and it also gets praise for emulation and decent camera performance. The main drawbacks are the 6GB RAM, no microSD slot, and reports of noticeable One UI lag. Metro's 365 day unlock lock and frequent port in and checkout problems are the biggest caveats.

You properly have the old T-Mobile sim. Go to store get a new 5G sim.
Better not to do esim coz the phone is locked to metro. Physical sim is easier to swap phone.

Hmm, still having issues as I left the phone be since yesterday (no moving or touching on a desk) and again today the service is showing "Searching"......the Tmo SIM I have is relatively new as I got that line/SIM about 3 months back. Restarting the phone fixed the issue today but as this is for a kid (have to leave the phone when they need it) i'd hope this just works without having to do this.

Not sure how to troubleshoot this as if its the phone issue, i need to resolve this asap before I plan on not renewing the metro service....Anyone know if I need to leave Metro eSIM turned on or if its pinging everyday and since its turned of the phone is turning off the other SIM?

I could go to Tmo store and get a new SIM but as noted swapping out with another working Tmo SIM did not change the above behavior.

Unless you have another sim to try. Properly the sim is having bad connection. You don't have to keep metro esim active. Just disable it . Flash XAA might help with your issue. Don't worry, it's very difficult to brick your phone using odin as long you're flashing the firmware for A37.

I'll try that: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung...1/2005535/

Follow that for a U1 firmware? and get ODIN?

I'll have to go back to a Metro Firmare in a year to then unlock the phone right? So another procedure as above?

Yes reflash T-Mobile firmware after 1 year to unlock.

Google Voice has changed this year. They now require ID verification to even get a number, and charge a $20 port out fee. Compared to their old method of just buying the number for $3 and being able to port it out.
is there a limit on how many numbers you can get with their new ID verification

Metro is 365 days to unlock
pricing in a 1 year lock up makes this deal look way less attractive

Are we sure only one month service is required to unlock after one year? This is what google said:
"According to the Metro by T-Mobile Phone Unlock Policy, 365 days must pass from the activation date, and community discussions on platforms like Reddit note that the phone must remain active and used on the network during that time rather than just sitting disconnected after one month"
sounds like it's one year of active service.

So no porting from an mvno to another mvno to take advantage of new sign up offers. That's unfortunate. I wonder why they care who your prior carrier was.

Yes you can. Activate the phone first. Go online use self service to swap device for free Or pay some $$$ to let the rep do it for.
